Cheap theatre tickets?

Would love to take Dc to see a show over the summer holidays this year, we found some cheap tickets for a show at the Cambridge theatre but seats are right at the top at the back, do you still have a decent view?

if not does anyone know of any sites or tips for getting better seats but with less eye watering prices?

Kids week. It now runs for the whole of August in lots of London theatres. Essentially kids go free. Tickets usually go on sale in June.

You can check out reviews of specific theatre seats on theatremonkey :- www.theatremonkey.com/venues

Use todaytix to see what deals are around. Then use seatplan to look at pictures/information about the view from different seats.

If you sit towards the back of the upper circle in the Cambridge theatre there will be certain bits of the show that you 'miss' because it happens in the stalls.

Kids week is fab but it isn't always the cheapest option - it doesn't include all shows and price bands so it's worth checking various options before booking. Todaytix can be cheaper than booking direct but not always, and official London theatre sometimes have sales too. Basically, shop around!

Some shows go on tour to other parts of the country and tickets are a lot cheaper than in London. Eg Six is playing in Woking in Feb I think.

Plenty of good shows outside of London.

Get Rush tickets via Today Tix on the day (not for everything, but great tickets and really discounted)

If it's a Disney show - frozen, beauty and the beast or lion king etc and it's just for two of you then go on Disneytickets.Co.Uk and sign up. They release left over tickets every Monday at noon on the dot, in groups of 2, for that weeks shows - at like £25 a ticket. It's a great deal as long as there are just two of you and you are flexible for the week. You have to be super quick and logged in ready as they are all gone by like 12.04.
We did this a couple of times last summer and got some royal circle seats worth £100 each for only £25, so well worth it!

Today Tix is great for cheaper tickets - download the app and you can see when they have deals on. Also as PP said they have 'rush' tickets and lottery tickets for some shows to see that evening.

Matilda has a lottery though I haven't managed to win yet. Kids week is a good call for the summer but does sell out quickly for the big shows and last year most had no matinee performances included (depending on the age of your kids this may not be an issue for you). Also be careful it's actually cheaper as they hike up the ticket price before giving you one free (generally is for stalls, not for the already cheap seats)
