London with teens

Thinking of spending a few days in London (we are in Scotland) in summer. Have ds (16) and Dd (13).

Ds is into football and history. Dd is mainly into animals and tiktok etc.

I am on a mobility scooter that apparently is too big for the tube so we'll need to drive - I have a blue badge so think I get discounted congestion charge though parking worries me.

Not sure where we'll be staying - hopefully as centrally as possible.

It'll be in July - first couple of weeks sometime .

Any suggestions on best things to do? Not London eye.

So London aquarium is expensive but would probably be a hit with DD, you can also usually find some sort of 2 for 1 vouchers. If there's any London teams DS likes you can do a stadium tour or something? Natural history Museum I imagine they'd both be into with animals and history. Science museum is usually a hit too. Depending on what history DS likes the imperial war museum could be good or cabinet war rooms maybe (I'm not sure of accessibility as it's a old buildings). South bank is usually good in the summer there's usually stuff going on as well stalls ect. Camden is also usually a hit with teenagers but again I'm not sure how accessible the market ect would be.

Buses should be ok for you if you avoid peak times where possible only because they can get crowded. I think the Elizabeth line is meant to be super accessible if that helps at all.

there are lots of things your teens will like - zoo / natural history museum / tower bridge etc.

the challenge will be your mobility scooter. driving and parking is VERY hard and expensive - most parking in zone 1 is £5+ per hour and max 2 hour stay + congestion zone charges. you might do better to get taxis which will take your scooter.

can your scooter go on a bus? London buses can get you to lots of good locations. Also the Thames bus-boat is good.

if you want to be careful with travel planning, get the CityMapper app which can show wheelchair routes on the tube and bus. Also, the AppyParking+ app shows london parking rules so that is v useful.

Thank you both. According to my google search my scooter is slightly too wide to be allowed on the buses.

How about a tour of Wembley Stadium? There is an outlet shopping centre next to it with restaurants and a cinema. Plenty of parking too.

We always take visitors to London on a boat trip from Westminster Pier down to Greenwich. You see a lot of the sights. At Greenwich you can see the Cutty Sark. There is a nice market and a park where at the top of the hill you can stand on the Greenwich Meridian. there’s also the Maritime Museum which is free of charge.
If you get a boat the other way you can visit Hampton Court.
For a real grapple with history, the British Museum is also free!
The London Eye is outside the Aquarium mentioned above and Buckingham Palace is usually open to the public in the summer.

Thanks @mdh2020 I'll take a look into accessibility of those
