My dog keeps peeing in my house

I have Bichon Frise /Shih Tzu . He's 8 months old. He pees outside and inside. I do put pee pads out at night time. I put a few out. He will pee on them when he feels to then he will just pee where ever.

Do you get up regularly to take him out to pee?
pee pads let off a scent to encourage them to wee and youre giving him mixed messages
id also ask this is moved to dog house

Because you haven’t toilet trained effectively and taught outside is the place to pee.

Yeah, as above the pee pads are literally encouraging him to pee in the house. Does he let you know that he needs to go outside and wee during the day? Make sure you've got that training down, make sure he goes outside to wee last thing before you go to bed and get rid of the pee pads. Our male rescue dog kept weeing in the same spot indoors so we used a special cleaning product to break down the urine enzymes left in the carpet (normal cleaning products often don't cut it so dogs will keep being drawn to the same spot) and after some research we put a very light dusting of pepper over it to deter him.

It’s a known issue with that breed so I’m not sure you’ll be able to resolve it

8/9 months is about the time for regression in training with dogs. Sort of a teenager phase if you will. Fun fact, it’s the most common age dogs are abandoned and sent to rescues (or was, I imagine money is probably the bigger factor these days).

Anyway, go back to basics. Right back to the first weeks where you stood outside shivering repeating “have a wee” etc. you’ll get there but you need to be consistent with it all.

Ok that makes sense but he's not just peeing on the pads. He pees on the pads then where he feels to . So even if I get rid of the pads he's still going to pee where ever anyway ?

And yes he paws the door to be let out . I do have a 4 year old German shepherd but I had a dog flap for her so she could get out 24/7

Hopefully your right . I have had to replace My hall and living room carpets. They were only 10 months old 😔
