Have you ever been in prison?

What was it like? Just that really, curious!

Yes, for work. Both men’s (all categories) and women’s.

The women’s were quiteter and calmer, with a large amount of prescription drugs, and non prescription drugs turned a blind eye to, as they kept the women quiet and malleable.

The men’s stank of fear and testosterone. I found the atmosphere very claustrophobic

As a woman in a position of privilege (within the prisoners personal rankings) i always felt safe but I imagine for nurses, admin or prison guards, it was a very different experience.

Pmsl 🤣 no, the "opening" hours on Google refer to the staffing of the visitors centre or the manning of the phone in correspondence

My df is in prison. 😔It's a hell-hole and a shit-hole and extremely violent.

I responded yesterday, and it actually took me a lot to confess that yes, I am a fuck up, but I'm prepared to own that and answer your question, but nothing, zilch, no interest.

Why ask, encourage sharing of experiences, then ignore?

And yes, I know people have lives, stuff to do etc,, but I still feel like a but of a knob for bothering to respond.

Not me, but I have friends of both sexes that have done time.
Female friend did not find it particularly unpleasant. Prison drama and soaps will have you believe that all the women are fighting all the time. She found it to be the opposite...

Wow lots of replies since my last post yesterday evening! Thank you everyone for sharing, I'm going to read through them all properly later this evening hopefully.

@SapphosRock I looked at the book you recommended and found it on amazon last night for less than a fiver, so I ordered it, should be here within the next day or two.

Didn't get chance to Cath up on all replies last night in the end but will catch up over the week.

@GrisleyR Sorry you feel that way but genuinely, people have busy lives. I went to bed early Sunday night (before you had posted your experience) worked all day yesterday then straight out to an evening appointment and then worked all day today, so very small window of opportunity to mumnset so far this week and still havent been able to read them all properly. I have thanked everyone 3 times and I have also already explained the point of this post. Im appreciative of the fact you have shared and can understand it must have provoked some negative emotions, and thats why im truly grateful that people are sharing, its hard and a difficult thing to share, I appreciate you didn't have to, but you did and I am grateful. I'd love to reply to every single post but I can't, but they will get read.
