Question to those of you (adult women) who've been diagnosed with ADHD and are now medicated

Please tell me if you can about how being medicated has helped/changed you?

I was diagnosed some months ago and began with Elvanse 30mg and now on 50mg. I do 'feel' different but I'm not sure what it is I should be expecting. My mind is still chaotic at the best of times but I suppose I do feel different though I can't quite articulate what it is I'm feeling.

If you have been diagnosed as an adult and are medicated could you tell me how it's changed the way you live or the way you think about things? Do you feel different and what meds are you on?

I decided to go down this route because things last year became a bit much, I've always known and was diagnosed in my early 20s but didn't pursue treatment only now in my 30s deciding to take it more seriously.

Thanks for any insights you can give me!

I could have written your post. I’ve just started on the 50mg elvanse. It has definitely made me more alert throughout the day and I think I can complete tasks with less faffing. The changes have been quite subtle, I’m still very forgetful and lose my train of thought constantly, but I do have considerably less anxiety/catastrophic thinking. This has been the biggest positive for me, I have lived my life until now as a bundle of nerves which ssri’s didn’t seem to help, so it’s quite nice not to be worrying about EVERYTHING. 🙂

Thank you Dogs That's I guess what I'm feeling, somehow more alert but to what end I'm not sure of yet as I'm still losing my train of thought and doing many things at once!

Are you moving up to 70mg? They are moving me up after 2 weeks of 50 mg. I think that is to compare which works best, 50 or 70. That’s how I’ve understood it anyway.

I think I will be moving up but my struggle is trying to explain how I've reacted. I definitely feel more alert but other than that I do still feel very scattered so at the mo they're very much still trying to find what works best but the problem is I'm not sure I'll know when I've 'got it' right.
