Doona stroller question…

Hi everyone,

DC2 due v soon and I really need to make a decision re the buggy situation.

DS is 2 (just turned) and he is no where near ready to ditch the pram. He is a terrible walker so will probably be needing a pram for him for at least another year!!

So….

I’d love a doona (second hand), i’m often with my mum/partner so I was thinking with the doona one of us would push that and the other would take DS’s pram.

But.. for times when I am alone, I can’t exactly push a pram and the doona! So I would need a double buggy.. which then makes me think ditch the doona idea all together and just go for the double.

Or.. would I need a double buggy.. could I get away with wearing baby in a sling and pushing DS in pram when I am on my own?

Help!!!?

I must add though.. I found it hard wearing DS in a carrier when he was little (hard on the back and I have literally no core strength)! So i’m quite stuck.

I like the idea of the doona being quick and easy to get out of the car (me and mum do a lot of running around in and out of car) but like I say, when i’m on my own I would ideally need a double buggy.

I thought babies couldn’t be in the Doona for long as it’s basically a car seat?

Id keep your current buggy and use a sling for the little one. Then when they’re both a bit bigger, but the baby in the pram and use a buggy board for the toddler.

I'm pretty sure there's double buggies that have your toddler sitting down in it and your bag you just attach the car seat, so it means you won't have to remove baby from car seat- which might make it easier than getting a double buggy with a seat and a carry cot

Perhaps something like this

Babies should be in them for long periods. As a PP said it's a car seat. I don't like seeing tiny babies out in town in them. Just buy a double buggy.

Yes will go for the double. Last question! Is it worth investing in a more expensive double? Or a cheaper one? Considering DS may only need it for another year?

Is your current pram suitable for newborns? If so, you could just buy another seat attachment for older DS? Like the one where they sit on at the back, or a stand on one like a skateboard type thing. I’m not explaining this very well! Then you're not spending money on a whole new double pram and still have the option of wearing new baby and putting older DS in the pram sometimes.

Just get a buggy board.

my kids used buggies long past three, (even 4!) especially if you are going for longer walks. They might not be in it all the time but little legs get tired. You don't want to only be able to walk at a 3/4 year olds pace.

Also to add, if you do decide on the new double buggy, look into a BabyZen Yo-yo if you want something light, easy to get in/out the car, fold away etc. They can transform into a double buggy too.

For times you're popping quickly
To the shop baby can stay in car seat, otherwise get a bassinet too so you can attach that for when you're out longer
