Help me fill my new living room!

Hi everyone.

We are moving into our lovely new home next month and need some inspo. Our current living room is small so we only have space for our sofa and TV.

I need a pop of colour and at least a decent big rug as this new lounge is huge! Everything in the new home is the same colour scheme for each room so would ideally like a pop of different colours in each room but the lounge is the biggest space so need some ideas!

Pics of the lounge and my sofa below. Any suggestions / good buys / ideas on how to fill my new living space would be great. Thank you!

I'd want to put a very colourful and comfortable armchair in the corner by the window where I could read and/or people watch. I'd need a side table for my glass and an angled reading light. These would be my choices .

Then, I'd pick 1 or 2 colours from the chair and use that colour for cushion/rugs etc.

Wooden furniture to warm it up and nice rugs, cushions for texture. Big plants next to a wooden bookcase would look modern and classic too.

It’s stunning. Take your time picking what you want. It helps to live there for a bit to decide what you want and where.
I do agree with zoning though using furniture and rugs. And yes to the floor length curtains for each window is a must.

We're going with navy curtains. We are having double glazing fitted (well an extra layer of glass) in April.
I'll attach a picture of the curtains which are on their way. We're having 2 curtains on each window.

I'm waiting on navy and mustard cushions to go on our very pale sofa.

Rugs tbc.. but would it look really silly having 2 of the same rugs, but one mustard and one navy? I'll show you what the lounge is currently like. We have plenty of space to fill!

Just trying to find some dining chairs I like. Currently looking on market place to see if I can get some good second hand ones.
