Pocket money 12 year old

My daughter's 12 and in year 7. I'd previously been giving her £10 a month pocket money but it seems too little now. She's started popping to the local shops/cafe with friends. She also walks to and from school with friends and they'll often stop at the shop.
Just wondered if £20 per month sounds reasonable for an increasingly independent 12 year old? What does everyone else give their 12 year olds? £10 a month is definitely enough for my 10 year old because he never goes anywhere without me and has no interest in buying stuff really (apart from Robux).

My 12 year old daughter gets £7.50 a week, with the opportunity to add another £3 if she does two specific jobs, although they're optional and I don't press her to do them. That generally covers her going out and having a raid in a charity shop or meeting her friend for bubble tea.

If she's going for a day shopping with a friend with money she's saved/birthday money etc then I'll cover her bus fare and generally give her a fiver towards lunch, it's up to her if she has a cheaper lunch or adds money to it.

The system currently works quite well and she feels quite independent with it. We use GoHenry at the moment.

My dd who is 12 gets £5.00 per week at the moment. I might give her an inflationary pay rise if she can do the maths.

My 11 year old gets £10 a month also, but I buy most 'stuff'.

I find family and friends give money for birthdays & Christmas so there is currently a couple of hundred in DC's 'pocket money' account with a debit card, more than enough atm.

At 12 I was given the child benefit but I then had to budget and buy all my clothes (not uniform) out of it as well as any trips eg cinema or treats.
I was really good with money/saving/budgets etc though. Appreciate not all at 12 are! Did me the world of good though. I’ll do the same with my DD.

I put DD’s pocket money up to £20 from £10 at exactly the same age for exactly the same reasons! I still have to top up a little if she’s going to the cinema etc but it means I’m not constantly being asked for more money and she also has to learn to manage it across the month.

Thanks all. Your comments were really interesting to read. I'll increase it to 20 for now and then give extra for activities.

My 8 year old gets £5 a week with the opportunity to earn another £5 if he does various tasks.

If you can afford it I’d definitely give her more- £5 per weekend isn’t a lot when you consider the cost of busses/pizza with friends/cinema etc.

My 12 year old gets £5 a week, he is in year 8 and doesn't really go out with friends etc so its enough. Once he turns 13 in the summer we will up it to £10 a week and get him to pay for his phone out of that. I can see my 10 year old dd being a bit more social and going out with friends more when she joins secondary school in Sept so will probably give her £10 a week when she turns 11.
