Tiny blister on eyeball

Firstly I realise none of you can diagnose me over the internet, I've had an online GP appointment but it wasn't very helpful! So thought I'd ask here in case anyone else has had this.

So earlier today I felt like there was something in my eye, like the feeling of a piece of grit or something. Gave it a rinse but still felt it. Looked up close in my magnifying mirror and there's what looks like a tiny blister on my eyeball, just above the iris.

The GP basically said keep an eye on it (ha!) and go to A&E where there is an eye clinic if it gets any worse. She couldn't actually see anything over the online call, it needs to be seen up close.

Anyone know what this might be or has anyone experienced it? Not sure if I should be worried. Thanks

Do you sometimes get any herpes outbreaks ?
It's little known but you can get them in your eyes , which would be a blister.

No it's not at all! It causes a keratoconjunctivitis with dendritic ulcers.

@seventynine it's a conjunctival retention cyst, also known as an inclusion cyst. It doesn't need any treatment and should go away by itself. Massive ones occasionally need removal.

(I'm an optometrist and I'm 100% sure that's the diagnosis.)

@underneaththeash thank you so much!

@underneaththeash does the fact that it is right on the edge of my iris cause any concern? Rather than just on the white of the eyeball? Thanks

Arghh - I didn’t realise that wasn’t your eye…
mcan you post a picture of your actual eye?

Years ago, pre-Covid, I scratched my eyeball, think I got flicked in the eye with a twig while gardening. GP basically told me, A&E. Our local hospital has an amazing eye department with it's own A&E. They diagnosed an ulcer and gave me drops to use every hour, day and night, for two days, and then hourly daytime only for several more days.

Don't muck about with eyes. You'll get an optician appointment quickly, and if they insist you get seen at the hospital, it comes with more weight than if you just turned up.

Hope it's soon sorted.

@underneaththeash I can't get a decent photo of it, I have tried!

Anyway update is local opticians were useless and wouldn't see me but I have now spoken to the eye department of A&E which is appointment only, she said from what I am describing it is a subconjuctival cyst as @underneaththeash said, and the position of it is fine as it's not actually on the iris. I have drops to use and can make an appointment to go back if it gets worse, but should clear up by itself.

Thanks so much for all the advice, feel less panicky now I've spoken to someone from the eye clinic and have a plan. MN can be many things but in cases like this the vipers are awesome 😁

I had this, it was an ulcer and became utterly unbearable. If this is what you have, you need antibiotics ASAP. I'd definitely get it checked.

DaVariance · 27/01/2023 13:01

You can get an antibiotic cream to help it heal

You might be able to get it from a pharmacy they can definitely advise you

DaVariance · 27/01/2023 13:01

If not then your GP

Glad you got sorted OP.
I had shingles in my eye which hurts. Here, in France, they use 'magnetiseurs' who draw out the inflammation with their hands. Otherwise known as 'sorciers'.

Wow, I wonder if it works?
