Is there anywhere that I can go in July which will be around 24-28 degrees?

I am a single mum to a 3 year old with very fair skin, and neither of us are very good with heat. I am a teacher and can only go on my summer holiday in late July or August - would love to go abroad but don't want to go anywhere too hot, so Spain, Italy, Greece etc all out. I was thinking France but I only really know Normandy/Brittany (which might well be disappointing, weather-wise) and the south of France, which will be too hot. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations please?

Madeira would be average of 24 degrees

Cloverforever · 26/01/2023 19:47

28 is pretty hot!

You might know Normandy, but do you know La perche? Very nice inland place known as the French Cotswolds.

Definitely Madeira

BarbaraVineFan · 26/01/2023 19:57

Thanks, I'll look at Madeira! La perche sounds lovely, but I was hoping for a seaside holiday for my little DD.

ile de Re in France would be perfect for you and your DC

You might be better going to somewhere like Tenerife around Easter… just an idea.

I agree with Madeira. Lovely climate, lots to see and do. No beaches on the main island (volcanic island) but for me that makes it better ... Lovely, lovely coast. Easy to get around on buses. Nice people.

Frenchfancy · 26/01/2023 20:07

I would be disappointed if the Ile de Ré was only 28 in summer.

You need to look further north for those temps. Normandy and Brittany maybe but even there it can get much hotter.

I would be looking at Belgium or Holland if you don't want to stay in the UK.

HappyHolidai · 26/01/2023 20:08

Isle of Wight is lovely. Or Channel Islands. It might be cooler than that, but probably won't be hotter so depends which way you'd rather risk.

That part of France was 42 degrees last July!

Mustreadabook · 26/01/2023 20:16

The canary islands dont seem to get too hot in summer.

When ever I’ve been to Normandy and Brittany it’s rained or been cool. I’ve been 6 times. Last time l refused to go ever again.

Switzerland.

Abzs · 26/01/2023 20:25

North sea or Baltic coasts. Or the south east coast of England.

TwigTheWonderKid · 26/01/2023 20:28

Lanzarote is about 25-28° in high summer. Nice sandy beaches and no time difference.

Spirini · 26/01/2023 20:58

Holland or the German coast

BarbaraVineFan · 26/01/2023 21:26

Thanks everyone! I've just seen Switzerland and thought 'yes!' Going to check it out, thank you
