Dull question about vented tumble dryer

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/01/2023 18:33

Can I put a vented tumble dryer in the garage with the hose placed through the partially opened back door of my garage? So not the front up and over garage door but the single door that's straight into my garden.

I've completely killed my condenser dryer by putting in the garage and it got too cold.

I don't see why not. Mine literally just vents through the wall. Nothing fancy.

Mine is in my garage and has been for 20 years. No issues

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/01/2023 18:55

Thanks both. I think I'll buy a cheap one and try it.

Can you not have it properly vented through the garage wall like you would in the house?

I've got a straight forward vented tumble dryer in the shed. DS cut a nifty hole in the shed wall and fixed the hose to it. Out of the rear door should be just fine.

I put the vent hose out my open kitchen window. No issues.

That's what I have done. It's not super regularly used but it's been there for 6 years and is still fine.

Yes you can but I drilled a hole into the external wall of the garage

Kits are available and straightforward to fit 👍👍

poorbuthappy · 26/01/2023 19:30

Yes fine. I maintain that the cheaper simple vented tumble driers are the best

jtaeapa · 26/01/2023 19:32

The cheap vented ones are amazing. They actually dry clothes, unlike some of those sensor bastard things - which can leave seams damp.

You can vent it out of a door - not sure if that would be great in the rain though.

I don't bother venting it out the door even. Think it warms the garage up a bit and there's enough draught around the garage door to circulate it round a bit.

Thanks all, really appreciate it. Ordered one to be delivered in a couple of weeks!

Just be aware- when you vent it out of the door, make sure the door is fastened so the wind doesn't blow it so far open on its hinges that it snaps off! Voice of experience here.

We had a cat flap put in the back garage door specifically for putting the dryer hose through.

My cousin drilled a hole in the outside wall for me, stuck the hose in it and put a vent over the hole outside x
