When was the last time you were shouted at or received abuse at work and what job do you do?

Me today and work in the NHS.

I'm self-employed so shielded from that but I do feel that there has been a lot of abuse targeted towards many sectors. In many places now you have notices and voice messages warning people about being abusive etc. I don't ever recall that happening a couple of years ago. Just shows what has happened and how people are feeling to act like this.

Nobody should be abused though at work - ever. I'm sorry you went through that. Hopefully you have some support, or can offload here or elsewhere?

I was shouted at by a surgeon and asked to leave "his theatre". I was doing the WHO checklist, and asked people to re-introduce themselves (knowing who the other staff are is part of the safety check) as I had arrived late (I was a student, and had just come from a practical exam).
I put up with lower level shit after that from qualified staff, but that was something that really stuck out to me as I was literally following the rules.

I am constantly subject to physical and verbal attacks at work. I'm a TA.

He is a bully…I hope you filled out an incident report or talked to supervisor.
I am sorry that this happened to you.💐
There is a lot of bullying in healthcare - and not just from patients.

Every day. Work for an insurance company.

TA - physical and verbal abuse - kids and staff!

HarryBlackberry1 · 24/01/2023 18:01

Today. Every. Single. Day. I'm a teacher. Got called a fucking cunt many times today, and a colleague was threatened with being punched in the face. Sadly we have to put up with this every day. It's soul destroying.

I didn't. I was the subject of gossip about it afterwards. In hindsight, I really should have made a big deal if it, but I was made to feel like it would go nowhere anyway as I was just a student and we had to put up with stuff like that.
I dropped out of the course in the end. I loved the work and the patients.. it was the staff and their egos that ruined it for me.

Thanks @knowitmore its hard to let it go and not let it affect you. I have a lovely supportive team though.

@HarryBlackberry1 that’s shocking! Things have certainly changed since I was a pupil 😢

sorry to everyone else experiencing the same, it’s so hard to not let it affect you.
