How to get some sleep with a dry cough

I've got the most annoying dry tickly cough. I'm feeling absolutely fine in myself but it's really affecting my sleep. Every time I drift off (sitting propped up on pillows) the coughing starts.
I've got a long day of driving tomorrow and I really need to get dome sleep tonight! Any miracle remedies anyone knows of?

Do you have one of those aromatherapy diffusers? Put one next to your bed with lavender in, the moisture in the air will help your cough.

Pholcodine linctus from the pharmacy is amazing at stopping you coughing!

Benylin used to do a Night time liquid, not sure it's still available but it was good for this sort of cough. But I usually find pharmacies helpful at making recommendations.

Thanks so much, I will pop to the pharmacy later

Hot Vimto and fresh air helps me.

Buttercup cough syrup too.

Pholcodine linctus is magic

Also night nurse. The proper night nurse brand. Not another version

Have had the same, Benylin, the red bottle is brilliant with Beecham cold + flu powders. Over 4 days the combination cleared it up. An absolute must is honey/lemon drink 2 segments squeezed into a tbsp of honey in boiled water.

Covonia night time (from pharmacist) works for me.

Head over a bowl of boiling water under a towel. Stay there for at least 10 minutes, it’ll give you 15 or so minutes relief after to fall asleep.

Also found Robitussin from the chemist really really helpful to take the edge off.

Put a wet towel on the radiator to make sure the room is humid! And open the window slightly. The main thing is getting the room humid.
