Ordered a suede affect jacket from mango.
Retails at £59
I paid £7 as it was listed as very good-thought I was getting a bargain
Jacket comes and the inside collar has these stains on and also the suede around sleeve looks like this?
I've told seller that she should be paying for postage as it's not as described
She disagrees and says it's in v good condition
Who is correct ?
I've included pics

? It’s £7? It’s barely noticeable.. is this a reverse?

Clymene · 23/01/2023 23:15

You were expecting a £60 jacket for £7 to be like new? Confused

iklboo · 23/01/2023 23:27

What did you expect for £7? Surely some kind of alarm bell was ringing?

Chalk it up as a lessoned learned and move on. Try the charity shops!

I've seen this kind of thing a lot on Vinted and other selling sites. I often show my partner photos of clothing that people have listed as being "very good" or "like new" when they are really, very clearly, not. Some of it is actually laughable. It's for that reason I always set my search options to new with or without tags and even then I will study the photos for signs that might indicate this is a false description.

Yes, it was only £7 but I don't feel it's fair to say you shouldn't have expected the item to be as described just because it was cheap. It should have been listed as being in good (although even that is pushing it) or fair condition. Certainly not very good. Unfortunately Vinted will say you have to pay the return postage which is really quite unfair so I think on this occasion I would give negative feedback and leave it at that.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 23/01/2023 23:48

You have to pay return postage with Vinted, if you send it inpost its quite cheap but for that price I would try and clean it, what are the washing instructions? The marks in the lining aren't going to be seen, its quite hard to see them in the photo tbh, and you can try spot cleaning the section on the arm.

Quite frankly I wouldn’t expect anything much for £7. Or the original £59. I’d just chuck it in the charity bag and forget about it.

This. I’d probably try cleaning it first. If that didn’t work I’d give it to charity. I wouldn’t be wouldnt be expecting much for £7!

Here's a better picture in daylight -rather than the artificial light
It was listed as genuine leather but is suede but label on actual jacket says "genuine leather"

Suede is leather! It looks like a bot of wear tbh. Material like that will show every pressure and use, even if just folded and packed. Unless it was described as unworn or bnwot accept it, wear or donate.

Piffle11 · 24/01/2023 08:18

I think the £7 is irrelevant.

If it is listed as being in very good condition, and it turns up looking like that… It looks filthy! That second picture… Those dusty, looking streaks, and then, when you zoom in, the blue suede is all discoloured: is that the neck line? Has that come off someone's skin? It's grim.

Yes, you get what you pay for, and £7 is not much in the scheme of things. But the description is misleading. You think you're getting a bargain, whereas you're actually getting something that is only worth putting in the bin. A charity shop wouldn't be able to sell that because it is too dirty.

blackshutdoor · 24/01/2023 08:20

That's how it's meant to look

I think generally you get what you pay for. £7 is very cheap for a jacket priced at £60.

I would clean it and if it still doesn't look how you want donate it to charity.

LIZS · 24/01/2023 08:25

Do you have pics from the listing? What condition did they show?

Shitfather · 24/01/2023 08:25

Tor 7 quid, you are taking a punt. “Good condition” is a subjective concept. Request a refund and move on.

I'd let it go. Get a suede brush and brush it all out. If you had made those marks (Although not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing) you wouldn't notice and you'd carry on wearing and liking it.

shhsleepin · 24/01/2023 08:28

Just send it back. I actually think £7 is expensive for that. I sell things on vinted and normally get £3/£4 for high street costs that are in better condition than that!

Paq · 24/01/2023 08:29

For £7 I think you've got a bargain! What did you expect?

blackshutdoor · 24/01/2023 08:29

Thanks il just return it
Thanks everyone

Who are all of these people who think that donating dirty clothes to charity is acceptable? Charities can't sell dirty clothes, and they can't afford to have everything cleaned. They have to pay to have unsellable clothes disposed of. If you wouldn't wear it yourself, why would you expect someone else to? And pay for the privilege?

SoupDragon · 24/01/2023 08:33

blackshutdoor · 23/01/2023 22:09

This is how it looks new

So, that is now a £60 jacket looks. Yours is a £7 jacket.

MistyRock · 24/01/2023 08:33

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is!
If I were you I'd take it to be cleaned. At £7 I really would've expected it to be shit and I'd have expected the seller to be lying.

trampoline123 · 24/01/2023 08:34

The amount isn't the point! It was listed as very good condition and it's not.

Unless they noted the marks which people are supposed to do then I'd complain.

I bought a coat for £5 which original retail price was over £100, I bought it as it was described as very good condition and it was.

The IP wouldn't have bought it if it was described properly and that's the issue.

The amount is part of the point. The seller listed it for £7 which leads you to believe that it isn't actually in as good a condition as you'll lead to believe. If it was listed at £50 and classed as VGC then you would expect it to be. Listed at £7 then surely you'd expect the seller to be telling porkies, especially on Vinted.
