Yes to the cathedral and the Alcazar. Allow 1hr30 and 2hrs respectively. The Cathedral entrance ticket also gives you the possibility to visit La Giralda.
Take a stroll around Plaza de Espana to take in the vibes. Take the stairs on the right side of the square to go to a terrace with a great panoramic view!
Climb Metropol Parasol at sunset.
Stroll around Triana District, visit the market there and go to Los Valencianos. It serves up the best horchata!
Watch a flamenco show. We went to Casa de la Memoria which we loved, but another good option would be a show at the Flamenco museum (but a bit more touristy).

Wow can’t thank you enough

SmCould I get away with not booking a tour for either the cathedral or alcazar? Or best to book a tour?

Go to torre sevilla and take the lift to the viewing balcony and have a cocktail up there. You have to pay about €8 I think but the views are amazing.

It's right next to Triana. Sol y sombra is a famous bar in that bit of Triana if you like meaty options.

Casa Pilatos is lovely as is the área around it, lovely squares with bars.

The Setas (metro parasol) has a light show in the evenings.

If you like football you can do a stadium tour of the Sevilla Fc ground, Sánchez Pijuan.

The Alameda has great bars and a big open central bit to walk along. Walk back along the river towards plaza de armas and then go along past the bulllring for a view of Triana.

In Triana the best tapas are at la primera del puente. You can stand up indoors or sit facing the river.

I wouldn't bother booking a tour for the cathedral or alcázar.

It's fine to walk around Seville in the evening in the areas you'll be.

The roof top bar of Doña Marta hotel (I think it's marta, doña something) over looks the cathedral and is open to the public, great spot for a drink at sunset

The Giralda tower of the cathedral is good to climb

There's a tour of the cathedral rooftop which is supposed to be good

If you don’t get a tour, definitely get the audio guide. There’s limited signage at the Alcazar about what you’re actually looking at. There’s a free audio guide available via a QR code - just remember your headphones!

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 23/01/2023 14:24

Yes, I´d agree with the audio guide suggestion. I think perhaps you can do that too in the cathedral but I never have. I did recently on a trip to Granada cathedral, so maybe.

Also, walk round the barrio Santa cruz, the old jewish quarter, it´s behind the cathedral/alcazar. Calle mateos Gago and through to calle aire and calle agua along the back of the alcazar. The Judería (jewish quarter) is just there. Great view of the Giralda through an arch from the juderia (looking across patio de las banderas)

Calle Santa María La Blanca is not far and filled with bars and restaurants too.

I hope you love my adopted home town as much as I do, it's an amazing city

Hoppinggreen · 23/01/2023 17:46

We felt safe, been a few times and loved it. The things I was going to recommend have already been mentioned.
Do keep your hands by your sides though, there are lots of women, mostly by the cathedral, and they try to hand you small bunches of flowers then berate you if you won’t pay for them. They aren’t a problem, as long as you don’t hold out your hand!

Ursula82 · 23/01/2023 17:55

I’ve heard doing a horse and carriage ride fun? Thinking of my children here

also booked an e-scooter 90 minute private city tour as I suspect my son will adore that

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 23/01/2023 19:18

Yes the horse and carriage is cool, only done it once cos it's not cheap.

If you only have time for one I would do the Reales Alcázares because it has gardens to explore if they get a bit bored.

Whatislove82 · 03/02/2023 15:32

Anyone done a horse riding tour in the countryside surrounding Seville?

Ursula82 · 09/02/2023 16:51

Ooh I’d also like to know about horse riding tours in Seville!
