Which of these options is worse for me trying to shift some weight?

I've always been bad at drinking fluids, really have to force myself to drink water during the day, quite happily survive off about 3 cups of tea during the day and some water during the night if I wake.
I've bought myself one of those big 2L water bottles with a straw to have on my desk but still struggling to get through it.
Is it better if I put a bit of elderflower cordial in so I like it and drink it but then I'm thinking I'm just taking in sugar along with the probably much needed fluids.
I am aware I should just be an adult and drink the bloody water as it is but I'm my own worst enemy!

@mynameiscalypso ah great, that is reassuring. If you don't mind me asking, has it impacted your weight at all?

@Havehope21 I'm probably not the right person to respond about that but I've been anything from underweight to overweight in the last 10 years and I've drunk the same amount of swish throughout. No correlation at all!

As PPs have said the 2 litres of water your body needs per day will mostly come from your food. Unless you eat very little you don't need to drink 2 litres on top of that. Cups of tea also count. It also varies depending on how active you are during the day and whether it is hot weather and so you are sweating a lot.

i like drinking water in summer, at this time of year forget it. I got a Soda Stream as I found that having fizzy water helped, but it's pointless forcing yourself to drink 2 litres of water every day.

Drinking litres and litres of water as a "good thing" is a myth

It's a myth peddled by many, but a myth

If you happily drink tea, maybe just drink an extra cuppa a day? And/or a glass of water with your meal?

Honestly, the 2 litres of water ON TOP of liquids you get in from tea, fruit, food.... it's nonsense

Stay hydrated, yes, but that's why we get thirsty. To remind us to drink. When needed. Mindlessly gluggjng gallons of water is such a fad...
