Help! Are these bed bug bites??

As title. Woke up this morning with itchy spots on both arms. I do have a dog but he is flea-ed regularly and isn't scratching himself. No change in washing powder, no stays in hotels, no second hand clothes or bedding. Please please tell me this is something else!
Before I get jumped on I'm going to the pharmacist later. Argh.

Are they all over? When I've seen bed bug bites the whole body is covered?

Columbina · 23/01/2023 09:03

I dont think anyone can tell you for sure. Bedbug bites look like other insect bites. The only way to confirm is to find a bug.

They don't bite all over if you wear clothing to bed.

They definitely look like flea bites have you been to anyone's house that might have pets with fleas? That's a lot of bites wherever they've came from.
Check your dogs flea treatment is the one currently used in your area as sometimes the fleas are immune to the treatments.

Look like flea bites to me. What do you treat the dog with?

mrsrobin · 23/01/2023 09:08

They could be bed bugs but if you haven't sleep anywhere else and you've never had them before at home , I would say unlikely. Could be flea bites but where are they - your arm? I would think unlikely to have a lot of bites there!

😭 😭 oh god. I use the one I get from the vet, Advocate. I went for a walk yesterday with my friend and her dog. Maybe I'd better give her a call!!

Any pigeons nesting on your house? Could be bird mite bites. Although it’s the wrong time of year.

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 23/01/2023 09:12

Bed bug bites often are in trails/lines as they bite as they travel so I think more likely some other bitey thing.

Itcouldhappenabishop · 23/01/2023 09:13

No sign of pigeons, I'd be surprised if any bugs survive the arctic temps but I guess they're hardy little bastards

Have you looked in the seams of your mattress, headboard, sofa's? They look like tiny flat wood lice and are a coppery/black colour.

Itcouldhappenabishop · 23/01/2023 09:25

@Turmerictolly not yet. Just (half) listening to a work call then will go check

Bed bug bites would also be on your face, neck, every inch of exposed skin in my bitter experience. How itchy are you? I wanted to DIE from the itching.

Look in the seams of your mattress and crevices of your bed for lots of black dust: that’s their poo. Rank little fuckers.

We've had bedbugs and yes they do often bite in a line as they walk across you. They are found in any room that someone sleeps in as they are attracted to the carbon dioxide we breath out in our sleep. The adults look like flat brown ladybirds and you will see specks of brownish reddish stains on your bedding which is their poop. If it is BB I would advise getting it treated asap as they multiply every three weeks and absolute bastards to get rid of once they are established.

Itcouldhappenabishop · 23/01/2023 10:15

Ok I've had a look at the mattress, bedding etc, no signs of life. I'll examine the sofa next
