This is totally different I've been on maternity for nearly a year and dreading it cause I'm gonna miss my baba 😭😭 but at the same time can't wait for a break x

goodnightlove · 22/01/2023 19:18

Different but the same Smile

I was SO chuffed to get the job. It boosted my confidence so much i've been on cloud 9 since the interview.

But now reality's hit ...

Yes, it's hard leaving DC. Bub will be just fine Flowers How old is he/she?

I had 14 years off. You've done the hardest bit by getting yourself a job. You'll be fine.

goodnightlove · 22/01/2023 19:24

Thank you @F4chrissakes 😀

Getting the nerve up to apply for the job was hard.
Going for the interview was hard.
Tonight feels harder 😂

Not me - but my husband just went back to work after a similar break! He’s loving it. He says it was daunting at first but he’s very sociable and has fallen in perfectly with his team.

I’m so proud of him for getting out of his comfort zone, for both him and us as a family. Proud of you too! It’s not easy, but the hardest part is over.

You'll be fine and good luck for your first day 😊 he's 9 months. I know my mind is worse than the reality. Going back 4 days so get an extra day with him

@ChiefWiggumsBoy

Thank you. And that's good to hear :)

Lovely to hear these actually.

Congratulations OP Flowers

Remember settling in and getting back into the swing of things will take time, so don’t beat yourself up if you’re not right on top of everything straight away.

Hope you have a great day tomorrow

goodnightlove · 22/01/2023 19:30

Emmamoo89, Ah - 9 months! Bless. Not a teeny baby then. 4 days is a good work/home balance.

My youngest is at school now. Would have gone back earlier but life got in the way and the longer you leave it the more daunting it is!

@PinkFrogss

Thank you 😄

I am the type to mentally beat myself up if it's not perfect.
I can see myself at the end of tomorrow either in tears or relief or horror 😂

I was a SAHM for 9 years, then went back to work when my youngest started school. It was so scary - I was really stressed for the first few weeks! That was years ago and I love it now. Good luck!

GoAgainstNicki · 22/01/2023 19:33

Mine isn’t really the same but I’ve had two back to back maternity leaves. I’ve been on maternity leave since the 3rd of April 2021 and I’m starting a new part time job on Friday. I keep thinking that I’ll have no understanding of what’s happening during the training and keep telling myself that I probably won’t pass probation😂🫣 so I have no clue how you must be feeling!

Congrats on the new job! It’s a big step to start applying for roles after so long out of work so you’ve probably done the hardest thing already. I’m sure it’ll go great:)

applepiesandwich · 22/01/2023 19:34

This will hopefully be me very soon -
I have a job interview tomorrow. Been a SAHM for 15 years!

BakedBeeeen · 22/01/2023 19:36

Really well done - that’s amazing! I have started new jobs a few times in the last few years and it is always exhausting at the start. My advice is just try and concentrate on getting day one done. That will be the hardest. Then after that, get week 1 over with. Then every week that goes past it will get easier!

Laiste · 22/01/2023 19:36

GiantTortoise - yep SAHM here too. I feel daft for feeling so scared. Didn't see it coming!

This thread is helping!

QueenMabby · 22/01/2023 19:37

I went back last spring after a sixteen year stint as a SAHM.

Only part time but I really enjoy it. The knowledge came back really quickly (I'm a solicitor) and surprisingly the tech hadn't moved on as far as I feared!

Deep breath and remember no one will expect you to know it all straight away. Ask lots of questions and shout if you're stuck. Best of luck!

PeekAtYou · 22/01/2023 19:39

I found it scary but it did me lots of good. I felt exhilarated afterwards and didn't sleep that night even though I was exhausted.

Good luck

goodnightlove · 22/01/2023 19:39

GoAgainstNicki - i think, like pp, coming out of maternity leave is it's own special case.

Having a baby is such a BIG thing - and then to have to turn your attention to the world again ... big thumbs up to all of you going back after having your little DCs* *👏
And thank you.

Oh well done!

Yes, i'm a bit worried about the tech side. Although they know i'm shite at tech a bit behind the times. It's not a massive part of the job though so ....

I'm hoping i slide back in as i've done some parts of this job before.

You just feel like you're going to stick out like a sore thumb with a big sign over your head saying ''shouldn't be here. should have stayed at home'' 😳

Just wanted to say my interview went really well, it wasn't nearly as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be.
Hope your first days have gone well too OP!
