Have you ever had multiple contact with the same dead person?

I'm not woo but talking to my sister this weekend made me think.

We grew up in a Victorian house and would see a lady walking around in a long black dress when we were very little. I don't remember her but my sister does and says she used to smile at her around the bedroom door.

A family friend came for dinner once when we were older and at the dining table was pale faced and said he had seen a lady in a long dress walking down the hallway.

I am a bit sceptical of ghosts but it seemed odd that more than one person had seen her. Anyone else seen an apparition more than once?

@scrumbling I don't remember it but my DF when I asked said I used to talk about a lady with a long skirt and saw her in the garden, in the kitchen and in the bedroom. He didn't volunteer the information until I asked.

The person who saw her in the hall was there for dinner and came back from the loo, so not hearsay as we were there.

I didn't know anything about it until the dinner conversation with the family friend when we were all there. My DSis remembers she used to talk about a lady but outgrew it when she was about four.

Our house is Victorian but not grand, it's just a terrace.

You were a small child, though. I had a whole fleet of imaginary friends as a child, including an old man who lived in the shed, about whom I apparently talked nonstop. And a ‘witch’ who lived in my bedroom and terrified me, who was almost certainly inspired by a dressing gown hanging on a door that looked scary st night. And it’s still hearsay from the guest unless you actually witnessed whatever they say they saw yourself.

None of this adds up to anything like ‘contact with a dead person’.

Oh, and I’ve said this on here before but I live in a house where a notorious murder took place — it actually happened in what was for years my ten year old’s bedroom, and on the landing outside. Not a whiff of supernatural ‘imprint’. I’d be utterly fascinated if there were, but despite knowing all circumstances of the event, nothing.

@Scumbling but I'm not saying I particularly take a view on whether or not I saw anything, my question is whether anyone else has?

Again though, WW1. A significant historical event. I think the power of suggestion has a part to play. As well as attentional focus etc. Very rare you hear someone say, ‘’oh I seen old Tommy the neighbour across the road’s ghost last night!’’ It’s always a nun or a Priest or a lady dressed in Victorian clothes, soldiers and characters of some religious or historical significance.

the Afterlife has religious underpinnings anyway, to make the reality of death easier to deal with.

Haha omg,I kid you not..our 'ghost' was in fact Tom the next door neighbour who died 2 years after we met him, and used to live in our own house! Probably the power of suggestion, but he really looked like him - but younger. This was circa 2000

I used to run a pub - it was one of the oldest buildings in our town ( built in the 1500's and wasn't really in the town when built), it didn't become a pub until the 70's or 80's.

The place was absolutely riddled with ghosts/spirits/phenomena. They were all different however over the years I was there we got to know them and recognise them(I am not insane!) You couldn't always see them but you could often feel them or feel an atmosphere.

Something didn't like it whenever work was done on the building or things were changed and the atmosphere would be oppressive and horrible. My dog used to come to work with me and there were occasions where even she ran away scared or refused to go in certain areas.

I wasn't a woo person at all when I started working there. I also had a housemate that I had told about the goings on who honestly thought I was insane. One day they closed the pub up with me and saw it themselves and nigh on keeled over 🤣

I am honestly not insane or seeing things!!

I have seen two modern day 'ghosts' in builders clothes. However I'm pretty sure both was a hallucination. I will check now to see if there have been faltalies near one ( it was about to cross the road)

I know several people who work or have worked in a hospital. Different departments all overlook one particular roof, and often see a group of Victorian children playing ring a rosies....!

This is a genuinely true story- security laugh when they get calls about a group of kids who have got up on the roof.

It’s funny how these ghosts are always dressed in Victorian clothes! And always called some very common generic names like John or Victoria/Elizabeth. It’s never Paul who died five years ago in a house fire and has come back to visit… 🤣

I have the same opinion about people who claim to be reincarnated. Everybody says they were Einstein, Mozart, Cleopatra, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis etc..in a previous life. Either that or somebody nice and average. But I never heard anyone claiming they were Hitler, Stalin, Emperor Nero or any other asshole before. Nobody ever says “look, I was a twat in a previous life, I was an alcoholic, wife-beater, child-abuser, mass murderer, torturer or whatever”..
Highly suspish!
Btw I saw this documentary once, do you know how many people have claimed they were Mozart and Marilyn in a previous life? At least 5 each. Yeah right!

My sister is very receptive to people who are knocking around past their sell-by-date.
She's a nurse, hard as nails (with everyone but her patients) and super pragmatic, definitely not the type to go looking for woo, but she's had it since we was a child and has always dealt with it in her practical, no-nonsense way. When she worked in a pub as a student, the cellar was particularly well known for it's inhabitants and while they apparently used to mess about when she first started, after a while she used to shout down 'right you lot, I'm coming down, I've been on a double and I haven't got time for any f-ing about' and she swears she actually found things more easily than before when things were hidden or moved!

Unfortunately being a nurse meant that she was exposed to a lot of sadness and confusion in those left behind at hospitals and she burnt out after back to back placements on a palliative care ward - the strain of losing patients in real life and then seeing them or their predecessors afterwards was so much to handle, even for her - the job didn't stop when she saw them out of this life.
It's not all fun and games!
