What is the difference between fatigue that you should see your GP about, and just general tiredness?

I have no idea whether what I'm experiencing is fatigue that I should see my GP about, or whether it's just general tiredness with a touch of January blues. How do you know the difference?

For the last month or so I've been feeling really tired. I've always been someone who needs 7-8 hours of sleep a night, but lately it seems to have gotten worse. I have 8-9 hours of sleep at night, and still cannot get myself up until the last possible minute. I work from home and this has slowly crept later and later, and now it's at the point where I wake up at 9:00am to start at 9:00am (I work later in the evening to cover the time spent quickly getting ready). Some days on my lunch hour I'll put an alarm on for an hour and sleep for that full hour. In the evenings I tend to get in bed and just chill. I've also started doing the bare minimum of other things, e.g. I've started washing my hair, showering and brushing my teeth less often when I'm not leaving the house that day (which is really unlike me as I've always been a very clean person who loves pampering myself, doing my skincare routine, brushing and flossing my teeth twice a day, etc).

I had a blood test recently which all came back normal apart from borderline low B12. I'm in my 20s and otherwise healthy aside from IBS.

I don't know whether to go to the GP or to wait it out and see if it gets better in the Spring?

Even with borderline B12 you can feel totally shit. I’d be treating that with a sublingual spray or dissolvable tablet (I take Jarrow high strength methyl 2500 strength about once a week and no longer need injections so you don’t need your GP to approve it.)

If they’re also letting borderline iron, vitamins and thyroid levels go untreated you will continue to feel knackered so try and get a copy of the actual results and reference ranges to see exactly how “ok” they all are.

Borderline low B12 could do it. The levels are set ridiculously low in the U.K and GP’s rarely do injections unless you are deficient.
if you want to boost up to optimal levels you could book some private injections. Many salons now do this but costs vary.
If you are borderline low it’s the best way to quickly boost levels rather than waiting for OTC tablets to work.

when my B12 was low I could hardly get off the sofa so it’s much more than being a bit tired from everyday life. I hope you feel better soon.
