am a bit of a novice. It’s chipped and I want it off. I can’t get to the nail place for a while.

any ideas for home removal hacks?

Soak in pure acetone for ten minutes and scrape off. Normal nail varnish remover isn't strong enough.

Acetone nail polish remover soaked on cotton wool pads and wrapped in tin foil on your finger tips for 10-15 mins before gentle scraping with a nail tool to get it off.

Cotton wool pads soaked with acetone. Use strips of tinfoil to attach pad over the nails. Leave for a while and then scrape off. May need to repeat if it's not coming off easily

As above, but speed it up by using an emery board to remove the top coat before applying the soaked pad and wrapping in foil.

As above, gently file to break seal.
Pure acetone on cotton wool, cover with foil.
Leave ten min.
Gently push with orange stick, if not shifting leave acetone another couple minutes.
Try and not get acetone on skin it’s very drying.

Afterwards I would use CND Rescue Rxx to repair nails. Just put on a a couple times a day for a couple weeks. I’d order on Amazon whilst ordering pure acetone.

You can just use household tinfoil. Cut it into small strips

Mumdiva99 · 22/01/2023 11:38

It's not easy. Really buff the top as much as you can.
After soaking gently scrape to encourage it off.
Repeat then repeat.

I took my gels off last weekend and it took bloody ages....well over 90 mins.
I did my daughters after Xmas and it was quicker - so easier to do on someone else.

Yes to all the above, don't start it if you are in a hurry, it needs patience and its easier to do one hand at a time until you have had a bit of practice getting the foil to hold tight. I cut up the flat cotton wool pads into nail size pieces and wrap them tightly with kitchen foil.

I use these too. They're great and very easy.
