Hello!!
Any idea what prams would fit in a 21 plate Mini Cooper boot?? Obviously after something small and easy without too much faff!!

I am not planning on changing to a different car just yet so any suggestions would be great

I had a big pram in a not quite big enough car, I used to put the bassinet on the passenger seat and the frame in the boot. Could give you more options.

AXCS · 22/01/2023 10:20

Yeah that could be an option - thank you for sharing your experience

We ended up getting a bigger car but we did have a Mini Cooper for the first couple of months. We had to put the bassinet on the back seat and take the wheels off the chassis in order to fit the pram in.

My Mini is older but the Joie Litetrax and Joie Versatrax both fit in the boot without taking wheels off. I really like them, easy one hand fold, and the Litetrax did my eldest from newborn to walking. I had adapters to pop the car seat on or the carrycot. When they are in the very newborn stage and you need the carrycot I just used to put it on the passenger seat.

A quick google brings up lots of suggestions.
I had the same dilemma 9 years ago.
Started off with an oyster travel system, I think I had to pop the wheels out for that.
Then I had a baby jogger citi mini GT (the best buggy imo)
Could fit that in the boot with the parcel shelf taken out. Couldn't fit anything else in mind.
I was adamant I wasn't going to give up the mini but admitted defeat around 16months, my back just couldn't take it anymore.
Still miss the mini.

This is how I feel! Love my mini, know it’s not the most practical but would love to have it for a while longe they if possible. But will look at the suggestions - thank you all!!

Babyzen yoyo with the newborn nest rather than the bassinet.

For what it’s worth, I have kept my Mini since my eldest was born 5 years ago and now with my second baby. I can’t fit my husband in at the same time though.

I don't know exactly as I don't have a mini but I did have a fiesta which has a pretty small boot. I used a britax travel system. The carrycot went on the passenger seat. When ds was just in the normal pram seat, I could squeeze it all into the boot. I also managed to fit a double pram in the small boot too. Folded it with the bottom seat attached but the top seat taken off. The wheels had to be at a certain angle for it all to fit. And then the top seat got squeezed in or went on the passenger seat. Any bags, coats, shopping etc went in the footwells at the back or in the passenger seat or footwell. The pram had to go in sideways, not laid flat. I could fit a surprising amount in that boot!
I would pick the pram you might want and then see if the shop will let you try it in your boot. We used an independent pram shop and they let us do this, with a member of staff present obviously!

I have a mini Cooper now, and will never give it up, bloody love that car. When DD's were babies/young I had a succession of two door coupes and a classic MGB Roadster. Also had a couple of newer convertibles . Can't remember what brands of prams I had, as they were all hand me downs, but honestly just jammed them in. No way was I going to change my beloved cars to something baby practical 🤣

Grumpsy · 22/01/2023 11:24

A friend had a tiny Toyota thing with next to no boot and managed to get a pram to fit, admittedly choice was very limited, and I think that went somewhere to try them in the car, can you do that?

AXCS · 22/01/2023 14:07

Thanks for all the helpful responses, some really good suggestions and I think I’ll try those out first :)
