IKEA tomorrow - what do I 'need'?

Just that really - I always walk away with great things and wish every time I'd asked on here!

I only go once per year so I'm quite excited Grin

Genius! <adds to list>

Get two ( voice of experience)

freezer bags
freazer bag clips

HeldAtHunPoint · 21/01/2023 23:24

Noooo the socktopus is crap, so fiddly and annoying! I hate mine, I’ve had much better ones from other places.

scrivette · 21/01/2023 23:24

Once you have one Socktopus you realise you need more so get at least two.

A couple of packs of coloured children's hangers, each of my children has a colour or you could colour code different types of clothing.

Their really cheap fleeces are great as blankets/throws/making dens.

Go early and have breakfast (and lunch!)

Vanillalime · 21/01/2023 23:34

This will give you the best mash ever!!

IDEALISK
Potato press, stainless steel
£10

fitnessmummy · 21/01/2023 23:35

Hot dogs, ice cream, 200 candles a wardrobe that doesn't fit in your house, cushions you don't need and a kilo of mini daim bars

Lcb123 · 21/01/2023 23:36

TheChosenTwo · 21/01/2023 23:04

What are you actually going for?!
I’m one of those rare people that don’t really like ikea, took dd for the pre uni run and she came away with everything she needed - I came away with nothing extra!

Same here - been once, hated it and all cheaply made rubbish

A bottle of water with you.

And buy batteries.

SkankingWombat · 21/01/2023 23:37

The stretchy silicone lids that replace clingfilm are great.
Seconding (or more) scissors, bag clips, napkins, and sandwich bags. The latter are really thick, so you can wash and reuse them loads of times.

JW13 · 21/01/2023 23:44

Sandwich bags

Dish brushes with suction ends so they can stand upright

Microwave plate cover thing (presuming you have a microwave and don't have one of the covers) - stops stuff splattering everywhere

Paper napkins - you can never have too many

Trolleys (Raskog or nissafors) are quite useful for kids stuff.

Boxes for organising any drawers in your pax wardrobes

Actual yellow octopus soft toy to keep the giant whale company

DelilahBucket · 22/01/2023 00:24

Whenever I go I always buy lots of candles, stock up on food bags and also get meatballs, salmon, and pickled herrings. Their cheap fleece blankets are excellent.

buckeejit · 22/01/2023 00:30

Love pax drawers & trays. Skubb boxes are a perfect fit too

A hot dog and ice cream at the end

Ughhh please don’t eat the hotdogs from ikea - they are foul!

UselessExLondoner · 22/01/2023 00:39

Snub boxes to put in drawers to help you organise stuff.

Those stretchy plastic things that you can use instead of cling film for cucumbers/ Tins of beans /melons cut in half/ etc.

Circular silver coloured tray, if they still do them.

I've never had one but my partner, who treats his body like a temple foodwise and who is an excellent cook, absolutely loves them.

I refer to them as his 'dirty little secret' .... 😛

UselessExLondoner · 22/01/2023 00:41

Oh and definitely the lemon and dill sauce

And they also do vegetable medallions (in the freezer), really nice served with some salmon and they lemon and the lemon and dill sauce.

Also they had the mini daim bars in the big bars, but they were discounted and they were orange flavour. Very tasty!

DonnaDonna0 · 22/01/2023 01:09

You’ll need more money because the prices have rocketed in Ikea of late.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/01/2023 01:13

2 socktopi is a must. Though until this moment, I'd forgotten I had two

user143677433 · 22/01/2023 01:26

Another vote for the giant whale

Agapornis · 22/01/2023 01:35

Cork trivets
Picture shelves
A wool rug
Bath mat
Plants
Plants
More plants
Gooseberry jam

MaybeSmaller · 22/01/2023 01:38

USB chargers and electrical extension sockets, if you don't have enough of those already. KOPPLA I think is the product name. Much better than stuff you can buy elsewhere for similar prices.

BrioLover · 23/01/2023 23:30

Forgot to update - not that anyone really cares but I appreciated all the effort and it was lovely going in with a decent list!

It was SO busy but we did get there early, had a coffee and a snack and then did lunch after the rush.

Bought storage for toys, a new mirror for the living room (the Lindbyk or something like that, looks like it's from Made or JL for £60), storage boxes for the toys that have now been labelled by eldest DS, a new plant, some lights and things for eldest DS's room, and found all the little bits you all suggested like the dill sauce, coke trivets etc. A good trip and now won't need to go for at least another year 🙌

But did you get a blue whale?

Exactly. Come on Op, don't let us down.

Towcat15 · 24/01/2023 20:55

Im interested in hearing about what storage cupboard you bought for playmobil and lego…

I was going to suggest adding big cuddly tiger to the whale and yellow octopus as he really is lovely but I was too late.
