Really boring question about outdoor trousers that's probably in the wrong section.

I'm looking for some outdoor trousers, it's a harder job than it should be and there is nowhere local that sells them (no outdoor shops).
I'm 5'7" to 5'8
Size 16
Long in the body
Fat of thigh

I'd love a pair of outdoor/walking trousers that are stretchy with a few biggish pockets, a highish waist so my top stays tucked in and I don't flash my knickers every time I bend over and that are made of stretchy fabric so I can bend my legs properly when I'm clambering about up hills and stuff. All my outdoor trousers are, frankly rubbish and far too short in the body so my back is always cold. Can anyone recommend anything for me? I'd be grateful forever and prob buy several pairs.

Try Arco women's action trousers

Singleandproud · 21/01/2023 21:30

Id size up though for Arco trousers, normally an 18 and had to get a 20.

I recently bought some from Mountain Warehouse, lined so extra warm too.

Mine are from M&S
They are showerproof & have the most useful pockets - like combats really.

Rohan Stretch Bags. Pricy but worth it.

Thanks everyone, I'll check those out. Going to look at the Rohan ones first.

I have these too. I'm exactly the same proportions as you and they're incredibly comfy with no back showing!

ShortKipper · 22/01/2023 04:27

Ditto Rohan. They have a really comfortable waistband and masses of pockets.

The manicure on the work pants model made me 😆

Haglof do lovely ones and sit nice and high on my waist & they’re too long on me - I get them anyway as it doesn’t matter when I’ve got walking trainers on! They are really pricey though. We live in Cumbria so I get a good price per wear for them. They’re definitely my favourite. I carry my weight on my waist rather than legs though (although I am overweight all over currently). Mountain equipment is another great brand. I’m talking about brands that means you can be warm at the top of the mountain in winter though so you may find that not worth the cost depending on what your activities are.

I have a similar pair to these (6/7 years old.and still my favourite!).... they are high waist and elasticated- similar to maternity wear. The material is quite strechy and great for all weather! Mine have decent sized pockets with zips.
My 2nd favourite are actually just a simple pair of hiking leggings with one phone pocket.... but then, I go out with a backpack and don't like stuff in my pockets.

Acai are great - they have petite, regular and tall fit

dubyalass · 22/01/2023 07:55

I am tall (long legs) and a size 16 and I get mine from Craghoppers. The waist is pretty high on them. If you Google Craghoppers discount code there's usually 10 or 20% off available. My oldest pair are 11 years old and still going strong.

JessicaBrassica · 22/01/2023 08:21

I'm a big fan of crag hoppers kiwi pro 2,. Stretchy, water repellent. I'm short though so I can't advise on the length of the long ones (I wear short ones).

MacaroniSaysShetlandPony · 22/01/2023 08:26

I have these and they are ace: www.stellarequipment.com/product/w-stellar-softshell-pants2-blublack/
