M&S Pizza not suitable for freezing - eat anyway?

I just got two M&S pizzas out the freezer and realised they say "not suitable for freezing"! Why would this be?? and should we still eat them?

What flavour

onelife22 · 21/01/2023 20:40

What's on the pizza?

Theunamedcat · 21/01/2023 20:41

Meat or veg?

RomeoMcFlourish · 21/01/2023 20:41

I would if there was no meat on there.

Rainbowshit · 21/01/2023 20:41

They'll be absolutely fine.

Rainbowshit · 21/01/2023 20:42

Usually they only say don't freeze if it will affect the texture.

shimmerbubbles · 21/01/2023 20:42

I imagine it's that one/some of the toppings don't freeze well so the texture or flavour might be altered.

The other option is that it was made with an ingredient that had already been frozen once, therefore can't be refrozen.

tootiredtoo · 21/01/2023 20:43

This happened to me with a veggie one. I cooked it anyway and it was fine.

HelloBunny · 21/01/2023 20:44

Sometimes it’s the vegan cheese.
Or peppers / tomatoes that go a bit mushy / water-logged. But fine to eat.

dementedpixie · 21/01/2023 20:45

Probably means it was frozen before. Cook until piping hot and I'm sure you'll be fine

randomqs · 21/01/2023 20:46

One is salami and creamy mozzarella, the other is antipasti with pesto

Yeah, if in doubt burn the fuck out of it. My mum always did and we all grew up healthy.

berksandbeyond · 21/01/2023 20:47

I’d eat both without questioning this

giveadogabeer · 21/01/2023 20:48

Probs in case it’s not a nice. It I’d cook it and eat it

Dacadactyl · 21/01/2023 20:48

I've frozen tons of food that say not suitable for freezing on it and lived to tell the tale.

It might affect texture but I suspect they'll taste fine.

QforCucumber · 21/01/2023 20:49

Are they a sourdough base by any chance? I frozen one of those once and it did absolutely ruin the base texture

randomqs · 21/01/2023 20:51

@QforCucumber they are their "wood fired" ones

randomqs · 21/01/2023 20:52

Oh yes-sourdough apparently

Shecrazy · 21/01/2023 20:54

I always freeze them and cook from frozen. Have done this for years and never been ill. I think they are more picky about quality reduction from frozen.

Shecrazy · 21/01/2023 20:55

Ah sorry, just seem it's the sourdough ones. Doubt it'll make you ill but it may spoil the quality

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/01/2023 20:56

Of course you can eat them. Why wouldn’t you be able to?

it just means the flavour may not be as good because they were previously frozen or the recipe doesn’t stand up so well to freezing.

Skyeheather · 21/01/2023 20:56

It means they have never put it in the freezer to see what would happen to it and they can't be bothered to pay the money to do so.

It will be fine to freeze, no different to any other pizza.

Shoemadlady · 21/01/2023 21:03

We always freeze them!
