Chilblains - wee works

Mrspissyfoot · 21/01/2023 12:01

I’m not going to beat around the bush with this.

I’ve got chilblains on my feet for the first time in my life. One of my first ports of call was to search “chilblains mumsnet” and so many threads come up. lots of posts about urine helping but no bugger trying it.

I’ve taken one for the team.

They came up on Thursday morning. By Thursday night, 4. of my toes were swollen, itchy and bright red. I had patches under my big toe that were so painful I could have cried. I was dreading going to bed.

I went for a shower and I spied my toddlers potty and thought, fuck this. I’m trying it. I’m going to shower after anyway.

The relief was instant. I soaked each foot for 5 minuets. The itching went and never came back.

I’ve been soaking my toes in my wee morning and night and today, my feet are almost back to normal. Swelling almost gone, redness almost gone.

IT WORKS.

I’ve name changed so you won’t see my regular name and think “oh, there’s that minger who soaks her toes in piss.”

If anyone is searching for relief in future and comes across this, then do it.

Never had chilblains but I'll store this info for future reference and hope I never need it

And obviously, I can’t tell anyone in real life
🤣

I just hope that one day, when someone is furiously searching the internet when they are at the point of wanting to cut their toes off with a kitchen knife because they can’t take the soreness and itching anymore, they will read this and give it a go.

Soaking my toes in piss shall be my legacy.

Wouldn't any slightly acidic solution have the same effect though? I'd rather soak my poorly feet in cider vinegar than piss.

I have Reynaud's and soak my feet in Epsom salts daily and apply calendula cream. No chilblains though, just very very very cold toes.

Wearing a couple of pairs of socks and some fleece lined slippers at home also works.

Less mess to tidy up afterwards! Grin

But tthe pain though!! And the unbearable itching.

My magic wee stopped those in its tracks!

I've had chillblains for the first time in my life too this winter! The itching is horrendous isn't it.
I haven't tried out the wee though! 🤣

I wonder if I’d had them this week. Super itchy little toes. Thought athletes feet to start with - but no other signs apart from being super itchy and red. I’ve sound what looks like a blister in between my little toe and the next one. Does that sound like it could be chillblains? (And didn’t they die out in the 70’s).

I only had my wee to hand. I was desperate. I’ve never had chilblains and christ, it was wee or a chainsaw at that point. I had no idea how awful they feel.

Now let me go and live out my days, defeating future chilblains with piss and become one of those Grandmas who sits in the corner telling people that urine cures everything.

Yes they can blister. But my super wee killed mine in time.

At first, it was the side of my third toe that was swollen and sore - I thought the nail might have grown in a bit, but a few hours later it was on more toes and patches under my big toes.

Big, red swollen itchy toes that also hurt. Such fun.

This thread has brought to my attention I don’t know what chillblains are… I thought it was that horrible feeling you get when you warm up your cold hands or feet too quickly! Does that even have a name?

Weewithholder · 21/01/2023 13:47

I’ve also got chilblains for the first time this winter, awful it is! It’s not itchy though , just really painful and kind of numb/pins and needles sensation . Didn’t know about the itchiness.
Wonder would the wee trick work if I don’t have the itchy ness?

Weewithholder · 21/01/2023 13:48

Ugh I had name changed recently but this seems like an inappropriate use of name for this topic 😅

Honestly, try it.

You have nothing to lose.

I've currently got chillblains on my hand (I WFH and it's my 'mouse hand'!) Not sure I fancy soaking my hand in wee though! A foot doesn't seem quite so bad

I think I would have drawn the line at my fingers to be fair.

But feet and then straight into the shower isn’t too bad.

The sore between your little toe and its neighbour may be a 'soft corn'. I have one of those and treated it with corn things.

I need help please. I've had one very sore chilblain since January and its now June and no better at all. I saw on here that Balmosa cream is wonderful but I just can't get it anywhere. Everywhere I try (and I've tried loads of places) they say that its out of stock and can't be ordered. I then saw on here some homeopathic cream made by Nelsons and bought that but it doesn't work for me. I then tried the GP who gave me some steroid cream. I've been on this for about one week now but no improvement as yet. It hurts so much when I walk and all my shoes seem to press on it. Apart from the wee, which I haven't yet tried, are there any more things recommended please? I am wondering if I should see a podiatrist?
