Just this. What type of clothing do you wear if you go into a non customer facing environment

Wide leg trousers (M&S) white trainers and shirt or jumper.

We have a dress code which boils down to not too much flesh on show and nothing scruffy. Trainers, jeans, etc all okay when they weren't before. Our old dress down Fridays were "dress down smartly without the suit Fridays" and have now gone. We have large service centres in the US and central Europe. The office culture there is different from the UK and they have been more relaxed in terms of dress for years.

Usually wfh but when in the office (once a week ish) my smarter pair of jeans, a nice jumper and either nice clean trainers or boots

I make an effort with my top half when I meet clients (always on teams never f2f).

in summer some colleagues come in as if they are off to the beach! This is a professional services firm.

Black jeans, base layer, black t shirt and jumper and gilet and safety boots. Oh and a high viz for outside.

Fishtail wool midi skirt, neat round neck jumper, statement necklace, high heels. Very Central Casting librarian but warm, comfortable, flattering and appropriate.

It's a fairly formal environment, men are in suit trousers, and work shirts and have a jacket and tie to hand for visitors,

TiredMum86 · 21/01/2023 09:06

Walking boots, black leggings, various colourful stretchy jersey-style dresses, cardigan or poncho over the top on a cold day

Newmum738 · 21/01/2023 09:09

I personally wouldn't go casual. If you want casual then keep it smart. I'd always recommend dressing for the job you want, not the job you've got!

Mumof1andacat · 21/01/2023 09:09

Black trousers, jumpers, cardigans, long or short sleeved tops. Can wear boots or shoes. Trainers, jeans(even black) strappy tops, sports wear and leggings are not to be worn.

Our office has always been really casual, even pre covid you could wear jeans, trainers and a tshirt.

I tend to be a little smarter than that, dress & boots or trainers, or skirts with a jumper but nobody wears ‘office wear’.

I think heels/suits etc feel really quite dated now, I think they only wear that style on the Apprentice!

In my work even the very top management wear trainers, not suits & ties.

JustFrustrated · 21/01/2023 09:31

My WFH and in the office outfits are the same.

Typically a shirt (with vest top underneath) and either a pencil skirt/above the knee skirt or skinny jeans /suit trousers.

I never wear dresses.

Flat boots/block heal boots in winter
Brogues/converse trainers in summer.

Or instead of a shirt I'll wear a body suit.

I’m a lower-level manager at a ftse 100 company. It differs. The tech people wear polo shirts and chinos, younger people in tracksuit bottoms and trainers are usually asked not to do that and tattoos aren’t to be on show. Unprompted senior management visits eg with investors can happen so you need to look tidy. Ties are dying out for anything other than board-facing events. I wear smart black trousers (Next have all sorts of semi casual ones) or a Boden ponte dress (no ironing!) with boots. In summer it’s ok to have bare legs with a decent sandal. Women have more leeway but very short skirts and strappy vest tops would be frowned upon. It’s usually a matter of common sense - too much flesh isn’t ok, shorts for either sex aren’t ok but ok for men if it’s over 30 degrees…. I’ve been there years and used to wear a skirt or trouser suit a lot but I def don’t now.

DelurkingAJ · 21/01/2023 09:43

Jeans and a hoody. Financial services and everyone up to the Board dress like that unless they’re meeting externals. Complete change from five years ago when we were all in suits. I’ve kept my suits as I might change jobs but have only worn them for funerals in the last few years!
