Working from home part time / SAHM - how do you add structure to your day?

Just that really.

I am going to have a few months where I'll mainly be at home and dcs are now at school everyday (primary age). I'll be doing little bits of WFH as well, but not a lot - about 12 hours a week.

I am really looking forward to it and know it's a luxury to be able to do it. But I'm also wondering if I'll end up a bit of a lost soul without the structure of having to be at work every morning. I currently start early everyday and have that routine.

I will have the school runs, but sometimes DH likes to do it, especially on days when he is also WFH.

When I was pt when the kids were small the time between drop off and pick up goes incredibly quickly!

I only had two days but did a gym class, had a weekly coffee meeting with friends, walked the dog so didn't have to do it in the evening, tried to sort dinner, some laundry and that was about it. Sometimes had a cheeky half hour nap!

Thanks @MaverickGooseGoose. Maybe I won't find the time alone so daunting then! Will definitely have more time to cook and clean which I will weirdly enjoy

I'm looking forward to this when my youngest starts full time. I think the time between drop offs goes very quickly, but things I'm planning, walk to school and back rather than drive, take a coffee and extend walk to linger if live close by, cleaning and laundry, meet friends for coffee, want to start Pilates/gym classes, food shop and tea prep. If your husband wants to do the school run then do this together

I'm mostly a sahm, although I'm studying for another degree, do various voluntary things and work on an ad hoc basis for the LA.

I divide the hours the kids are out (primary/preschool) into blocks.

We live by the sea so if the weather is OK I'll take a coffee for a quick walk once everyone else is out. 1 hour for admin/planning/clearing up breakfast etc, 2 hour block for studying and then lunch. Similar in the afternoon.
Obviously I fit friends in and can work at short notice but I have an overall schedule for the week.

Yeah, I might go with DH and dcs if he wants to take them. We do walk normally if one of us is at home that day, as parking is a nightmare round the school and we're quite close to the school anyway. Also like the idea of going for coffee and just having more time to sort stuff in the house. In my head I'll be making everything from scratch and prancing about like Mary Poppins. Maybe the reality will be different

@Dinosauratemydaffodils yes, this is exactly what I need. A proper schedule!

I might need to write to do lists too

I do. I like ticking stuff off.
