Pelvic floor trainers

As I'm getting into menopause (and my phone knows it) I keep getting adverts popping up for these pelvic floor gadgets. Mine really needs some exercise! Anyone used them? The perifit one that's popped up recently seems to have pretty glowing reviews but I don't trust anything these days.

I know this is an old post, but I’ve just bought the perifit and am on day 4. So far, so good. I’m getting to grips with using it still and you do have to make sure you are laying down in same sort of position each time (at least while you’re starting out).

I like that it sort of walks you through how to do proper contractions, and it measures strength/endurance levels. The games are a good laugh too!! My “training plan” on Perifit is just 5 minutes a day, so I fit it in before I get ready for the day. I’m in my early 40s, two DC and my pelvic floor is rubbish! I really hope that using this will help me get things sorted. it predicts that if I carry on doing this training properly then hopefully things will get to over 90% by December this year (Perifit graded me as at 15% the other day!!!). Today’s score was 18%!

I’m seeing a women’s health physio at the end of this month so I’ll see what she thinks about the Perifit (and every other gadget I’ve ever bought to try and sort this!), hopefully she will give me some pointers too.

Hello. If you are still around I wondered how you are getting on with it? I'm tempted but don't want to spend money on something I won't use

@TicTac80 Going to dredge this one up again as I’m considering getting one as GP suspects stage 1 uterine prolapse but waiting an age for a gynaecologist referral to get it confirmed and treatment. What did your physio say?

Interested in this thread?

I'd also be really interested in the opinions of any women's health physiotherapists. Anyone out there?

@Williams3001 , I completely forgot about this thread until I saw it come up. So I saw the women's health physio and weirdly, I don't have a knackered pelvic floor at all. I thought mine was completely buggered/not working at all, and that everything was falling out etc etc. She said that my core muscles are strong, my pelvic floor is strong etc. Mine is constantly contracted/squeezing (and therefore overworked - and that is were my problems come from). So I have had to "learn" how to relax everything, and then do the right exercises.

She thinks the Perifit is a great bit of kit, ditto the Kegel 8, but we have to make sure we are using the right modes for our issues. See above: I thought my issues were because the PF muscles were buggered and didn't work/weren't tight. Whereas, they're tight as a gnat's arse and actually overworked (therefore not being effective)!!

FWIW this physio is bloody amazing. I really wish that all women could have access to physios like her. For those in the South East, she's based in Tonbridge but also has a clinic at Sevenoaks. Worth every penny.

Thanks for the recs! I saw a physio too, as she said everything is supported internally, just need to do more kegels to work on the stress continence.

@TicTac80 could you please share the physio contact details? It's really close to me and it would be ideal to see a specialist before I decide to buy the device. Thank you!
