Leeds suggestions with a teen.

We are going to Leeds for the day with 15 year old dd. Can you suggest places to eat (lunch) and nice cafes, please?
We come from a small town, so some of the bigger chain stores will be new to us. Which shops would a 15 yr old like? She's into clothes, hair & beauty and has birthday money to spend 😁
Thanks.

The trinity centre would cover all your shopping needs!
In terms of teen friendly food Zaap for Thai, neon cactus (if it’s still around) for Mexican, Mowgli for curry.

Absolutely Trinity, then visit Victoria Quarter as well.

Zaap as mentioned is good. If you like Thai Momma Thai is very good and more reasonable! My two also like the bubble tea kiosks which seem to be popping up everywhere!

If you want to do something a bit more cultural the museum and art gallery are quite close together. Or you can get a boat taxi from the train station to the royal armouries.

My 16DD lives in Urban Outfitters in Trinity and loves the more independent shops in the Corn Exchange.

When we go into Leeds her favourite place to eat (at the moment!) is Bill's.

Agree with Trinity! Massive Primark, lots of food chains. She might like to explore the independent shops in the Corn Exchange too. It's a couple of mins walk from Trinity. There's a few vintagey shops around too. My teens - also country mice - really like Little Tokyo for a Japanese lunch.

Trinity is definitely my teen’s shopping destination of choice, and she loves the food hall (Trinity Kitchen). Big hits are Urban Outfitters and PINK.

The Victorian arcades are beautiful to have a wander through and the newer one with John Lewis is worth a browse - DD likes looking at &otherstories and Anthropologie there.

Trinity then through the Victoria arcades to John Lewis is my teen’s favourite modus operandi in Leeds

Pink closed for good last Saturday unfortunately

I second the Victorian arcades. They are very beautiful. If your dd likes jewellery, there is a fabulous jewellery shop called Aladdin's Cave in the Queen's Arcade.

There is another wonderful jewellery shop called Year Dot on The Headrow.

The undercover market is worth seeing - good stalls, and pretty Victorian ironwork everywhere.

You've made me want to go to Leeds now, OP - I haven't been there for about four years.

HandbagsnGladrags · 19/01/2023 14:26

As others have already said, Trinity Kitchen is great for lunch as there are lots of different food stalls. But there are loads of nice restaurants if you want a restaurant meal rather than street food. Tell us what kind of food you like?

Others have covered off the shopping bases - I personally love Victoria Gate for its big John Lewis and the lovely shops in the arcade.

Wasabi is a great shout for Sushi if she likes that also my top tip to anyone going to Leeds is to head for Doh'hut for the best fresh doughnuts!

The markets are undergoing construction at the moment and a lot of it is closed off. DD and I went for lunch last week and had to listen to a pneumatic drill for the entire time we were there!

Definitely Trinity, yes to the Arcades, and a wander down through the Victoria Quarter to Victoria Gate and John Lewis. I'd give Briggate a swerve though - unless she likes Zara. Briggate just seems to be empty now, it's such a shame. Debenhams going has left a huge empty building and House of Fraser has gone and is being used currently as a shit bargain basement type of store. The HOF sign is still above the door though - DH saw it and said "God, House of Fraser has gone right downhill since Mike Ashley took over hasn't it?" 😄 I had to show him it wasn't HOF!

Corn exchange is good for a mooch - I love the plant shop.

WandaWonder · 19/01/2023 22:46

It's been a while since I have been but the arcades and market are great

Whatliesbeneath707 · 20/01/2023 22:16

Great suggestions.
Can anyone suggest any small independent cafes for breakfast & coffee, please?
Thanks.
