How do you pay a babysitter for overnight stay?

Hi we have a fairly regular babysitter charges £10 / hour. Have asked her to stay overnight so that our parents can come to our party. How would u normally pay her, is it hourly for the whole duration? She hasn’t got any suggestions when I tried to discuss it with her so I think I need to come up with a proposal.

I was thinking something like her usual rate for the hours they are awake plus a flat rate eg £50 for overnight!? Is that fair!?

DH complaining about how expensive it’ll be!

I'd pay hourly for the full time they are then then a bonus on top for them being there overnight.

Hourly rate for the entirety of time she’s there and then an additional X amount for it being an overnight stay

I agree with this

Jesus I used to get £20 for an overnight stay back in the 90's. To put in context, cost £20 to fill my car with fuel at the time.

So I'd be saying it's £80 max all in for an overnight stay.

Hourly until midnight, then half rate overnight until 6 or 7 unless she needs to get up for them?

Disclaimer. I have never paid babysitters.

As carers doing sleepovers we get minimum wage for 11pm-7am, unless the person we are working with is awake for more than half an hour, in which case we get our hourly rate (10.90 ph). Don’t think my company pays particularly well!
Never used a babysitter but I would expect to pay them at least minimum wage for the full time they were there even if they were expecting to be asleep.

When I worked in a role that required me to be onsite but on call over night, I would be paid my regular hourly rate until 2200 (when I no longer was required to be on the floor) then I was paid a fixed sum over night (it was a while ago but I think it was £50) and would be paid double time on top of that if called upon.

Thinking about it a while ago was actually 20 years!

Minimum wage from time they arrive until the time they leave surely. So about £10 per hour entire time.

That's specific to your place of work. That's not across all carers
