Teeth Whitening and Composite Bonding

I had a fall in September which resulted in me hitting my mouth and cracking my front tooth. It’s not cracked in half, but there is a horizontal crack in the tooth that is visible.

I have been to the dentist several times since this has happened and had many check ups and X-rays. I’m told that the tooth has not died yet, will die eventually and at that point I will need RCT and then a crown or veneer. Although I don’t want any of that to happen, I’ve accepted it is the inevitable, however, I don’t want to get any of that done until I HAVE to.

I have asked my dentist what I can do in the mean time to improve the overall look of the tooth and he has said the least invasive approach is to get a composite veneer/composite bonding done on that tooth to disguise/cover the crack, but get my teeth whitened beforehand. I like the idea of this but my dentist has said that composite bonding is high maintenance and I will have to go back every 6-9 months to get a clean.

I was just wondering if anyone had had anything like this done, do you regret it? Is the composite bonding a pain to maintain etc? I really want my smile back but I’m worried I’ll regret having this done.

I've had composite bonding done last year but the dentist never mentioned anything about extra upkeep. However I tend to get my teeth cleaned every 4 months or so anyway so that may be why he didn't mention it.
The composite bonding looks completely natural, you would never guess it was there, it's really amazing. However I've had 2 minor cracks appear in it which I'm getting fixed soon (not very noticeable though, I had to point it out to my husband before he even noticed and the cracks were there a while at that point!). I'm hoping it's a one off problem that doesn't happen again.
I was told that it doesn't whiten like your regular tooth enamel does, which is presumably why you've been told to get whitening done first.
So far I'm glad I had the CB done.
