What's on your high street?

Inspired by another thread but not a thread about one.

I found it interesting reading people saying things like 'I'm amazed you have an X shop' or 'All we've got is vape shops and barbers' and things like that. And also how some people have a shop that's always dead but other posters say ones near them are always busy!

I live in a village. The nearest town isn't far however.

The village square/main street has a post office, THREE barbers, a charity shop (a good one, too!) two 'phone repair shops, a flower shop, a piercing shop and a co-op. It has a general store too, a hairdressers and a couple of independent gift shops-those I don't know how are still going.

There used to be an electronics repair shop and a sweet shop. I wish those were still there, the sweet shop was a traditional one and I miss it :( and the electric repair one was handy.

The nearby town has three junk shops. One is absolutely HUGE, and sells just about everything. You can get your grandmother a new pair of slippers in there, and buy a crack pipe while you're at it (I'm not joking). A shop that sells knock-off cigarettes as well as loads of brands of sweet goods that I've never heard of. The frozen food shop has just closed down. It has a savers, 5 charity shops and three betting shops.
It used to have loads more clothes shops. And an actual shopping Centre that's now empty :( I remember it thriving when I was young.

It's good to see that some high streets are still doing well.

I'd LOVE one of those zero waste shops. My nearest city used to have a food weighhouse but It's long gone. Such a good idea.

A little Tesco, a lot of vape, coffee, phone and charity shops. And more and more empty shops

We don't have high street 🤐😂 My village is typical "I am located between large city and town, just drive through and jog on".

I live in a small town with its fair share of charity shops. But I have friends who live in bigger towns who think it's great, because as well as small branches of usual suspects like Boots and WH Smith, there's still a range of independent little shops selling babywear, clothing, books, organic food etc, as well as some nice non-chain cafes. The locals however complain that we're not big enough to have Primark, Wilko or B&M.

I live in a village which just has a (very nice!) pub.

I’m halfway between two market towns - one is rather run down, there’s a local land loaner / business owner that seems to just let his buildings rot away. On the ‘high street’ there’s three or four take always, a jewellery shop, three or four cafes (one costa and the rest indépendant) a bike shop and a pharmacy. It’s more or less ok.

the other town is v posh - lots of indépendant ‘boutique’ type shops, some (very nice!) charity shops, estate agents, indépendant toy shop, bookshop, traditional fishmonger, greengrocer etc. It’s very nice but struggling in its own way too, one of the big restaurants has closed down and is standing empty, for example…

We live a very short walk away from the city centre so we literally have everything from an Opera house to a row of charity shops.
