For those that use a journal

With my anxiety and general life things I've been thinking about getting a journal (if I can find the time to sit and write in peace).
My question is, what journal do you have now? I see a lot of just plain notebooks but I'm curious what others use.

the Five Minute Journal = look on Amazon. excellent reviews brilliant for daily journaling

I've found journals incredibly helpful all my life, I've always just treated myself to a nice notebook. All I would suggest is explain to DP or whoever you live with that it is explicitly private that they need to respect that to support your recovery. My journal was read by someone I love very dearly and it broke trust for a long time which eventually led to me stopping using one as I couldn't see the point if I couldn't be true to how I felt in the moment.

I don't actively journal but love looking at the community: search on YouTube and IG, so many videos and photos, nearly always tagging where they've bought the book & materials. Posts range from elaborately themed scrapbook journals to simple 'diary style' ones.

PS If you're struggling to get started, or like structure, look up wellness journals. I think Papier do some www.papier.com/stationery/notebooks/wellness-journals/

I have a nice hardcover notebook. I like something either hardcover or with ring binding - I hate having to hold it open while I write.

Kanaloa · 13/01/2023 12:03

Oh - I got mine from WH Smith!

Pollypower · 13/01/2023 12:06

I use this one
www.amazon.co.uk/Mind-Dump-Journal-space-journal/dp/B09L9RLNYB/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=2V8NRLN448T5Z&keywords=mind+dump+journal&qid=1673611490&sprefix=mind+dum%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-1

I found it was the best quality in terms of pages/price. Nice and thick.

Any old notebook will do, sometimes I scribble away in a pukka pad and sometimes I use a beautiful notebook like a Paperblanks journal. Waterstones is a good place to browse if you want a pretty notebook.

But it’s more about what you write, that’s the healing part. This guide is invaluable:

I just use a page a day diary from WH Smith, it has plenty of blank pages for notes as well.

BlueChampagne · 13/01/2023 13:13

WH Smith A5 page a day diary.

cassiatwenty · 13/01/2023 13:19

I use WH Smith as well

Hiyas. I've kept journals for thirty years, and a diary before that (when I was growing up). I used to buy lined hardbook notebooks, but now use the computer. It's faster, you can back it up, and search is a doddle. If you're concerned about privacy, lock the document with a password.
