Anyone bought one of these new hair curler barrel thingies?

I have short just above shoulder length hair and can’t curl with straightness and tried tongs but always burn my hands despite the gloves. Do these work? Looking around £40 on Amazon. Air wrap seems way way too expensive for a risk even for a big birthday/Christmas present!

Anyone bought one of these new hair curler barrel thingies?

Are they the ones that suck your hair into the barrel? I have a Babyliss Curl Secret which does something similar and works pretty well so if they work on the same principle they might be OK.

I have the babyliss one, which is similar. It’s great and the curl lasts all day, sometimes more, BUT!! it only takes a little section at a time without it getting caught / mangled. Meaning it takes ages. I use straighteners every day to curl and this for special occasions.

Thanks both, I tried the babyliss secret curl one and couldn’t hold it or the angles right and my hair is shorter now so wondering about one of the ones like I pictured?

Anyone got a recommendation before I randomly Amazon something?

If they’re the cordless ones then they soon start losing their charge really quickly - too quickly to so your hair. Plus, they only really work if you add tiny pieces of heart each time, so takes ages.

YouTarzan · 02/02/2023 19:03

Hair not heart, don’t add your heart!!!!!

Swannning · 02/02/2023 19:09

I've got a Wylera one. The curls can be a bit tight and it loses its charge quite quickly but good to be able to do your hair in the car or similar

TravelWeDo · 06/05/2023 21:43

Any other suggestions?

I got a similar one from the range it was nearer £20 than £40 I think

Pinkflamingopants · 06/05/2023 21:47

Yes I have had that exact one, my hair looked great and it was Easy to use, but the battery ran out quickly and it broke after a few months (I have very long thick hair though)

TravelWeDo · 06/05/2023 22:02

Thanks @Pinkflamingopants indont think I can justify the £100 recommended up thread, wonder if it’s always a short life for something like this

MIL bought the one in the pic last week, she didn't really like it as the curls were too tight. I didn't trust it near my hair to try it.

Claymorekick · 06/05/2023 22:22

I have one, like others have said, the charge goes really quickly and only does small sections of hair. I have used it once!

I now use a Revamp which is like the Babyliss Secret Curl (as it electronically sucks your hair and rolls it round the barrel) but easier to use as you hold it vertically and can rotate the barrel in either direction easily so it looks quite natural. It is plug in and can put bigger sections in. Would definitely recommend.

I had the Babyliss curl secret, I liked how my hair looked but it broke within a few months, I had a replacement under warranty and that broke too.

I have the Dyson air wrap now and it isn't great, the curls don't last long.

I got the h2d magicurl a few weeks back, it's pretty easy to use and the curls last well. It's not cordless but the flex is very long and swivels so doesn't tangle.
I think it's £80 ish at full price but I bought one of the "damaged box" ones from the h2d website at £40.
