Tips for passing theory test

I need to learn how to drive, by the end of the year. Can someone give me tips/advice on how to revise/pass the theory test please? I have quite bad anxiety but this is something I must do now. I have an app downloaded, but it's been a very long time since I have had to study for anything (and having two young children under 4 takes up a lot of my time (obviously)).

I'd just keep taking practice tests on the app. You can do those very regularly and things will sink in. Little and (very ) often

I got the DVSA app. It was about £4.99 and I just did the occasional practice test. Loads of the same questions that I got on my real theory 😁 good luck.

Do all the practice tests you can. A lot of it is common sense.

Practice tests are the best way according to my children

ds2 did particularly well in his theory and when i congratulated him he said ‘I should have done well….I answered 762 practice questions!!!!’

good luck 🍀

Just keep practising. I worked on the hazard perception in the evenings for an hour or so.

Practice tests are fab! You can answer the questions and pay to do the videos too, I found them super useful and passed first time - which I 100% is down to doing all of the practice tests. The questions aren't made to trick you or be ridiculously hard, they're all very similar so once you've done lots of practice questions you'll find that the theory test will be very very similar. Reading the Highway Code before bed (thrilling I know 😂) also helped get it into my head.

Theory tests are super easy to re book and re take if you need to, the centre (in my experience) was really calm and easy to navigate - it was a very positive experience. Good luck!

Just keep practising on the app. I was shit and kept failing, a friend told me to download the AA app..this was 6 years ago, so not sure if its still around, but like the test ot had the multiple choice questions.
I just practised loads until I kept getting them all right. It totally worked. You can do this!! X

I used the driving test success app and I also used the AA theory test book which has all the questions

hoppityscotch · 11/01/2023 09:47

You should be learning it as you go with your driving lessons?

SinnerBoy · 11/01/2023 10:04

Read through the questions, 10 to 15 minutes at a time. Any time you have spare, have a little look at them. Reading them repeatedly will get you to remember the answers.

I decided the morning after I turned 30 (on a Sunday) I needed to learn to drive. I booked a cancellation theory test for the Wednesday (Probably a bit drunk still from the night before - not recommending doing it that way) Downloaded the app and just kept doing practice questions. Went 1st thing Wednesday morning and got 50/50. So many of them are common sense. I practiced things that weren't mainly. Do a few practice tests, see how you score and book based on that. I think once you have the theory then you are more motivated. I passed my test 2.5 months later.

One little point my ds learned was if you are doing the hazard perception practice tests you need to do them on a computer using a mouse to click - reaction times are different if doing it on a touch screen and he failed his hazard perception twice because he practiced on a touchscreen. His driving instructor told him to practice using a mouse and he passed the next time.

Good luck!
