Mri results

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any insights please? I had an mri on Tuesday for back/ hip pain. I had an appointment booked in for the results at the end of the month. I've just had a phone call to bring the results forward to Friday by telephone not face to face. Does this mean it's something bad?

Impossible to say, the way things are at the moment. Actually, even before current troubles.
Different depts have diff protocols. Could just as easily be that there's nothing wrong and they need your face to face appointment for someone else who needs it for bad news/further treatment.
Mega sympathies. At least you'll be spared the wait till the end of the month. Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you for the reply. Both the original and the brought forward result appointments were telephone based. It's just they've brought it two weeks ahead rather than leave it until the end of the month. I'm quite worried now, I just wish I knew.

I wouldn't assume it's necessarily indicative of anything, albeit I know that's probably easier said than done if you're worried. It is quite normal to bring appointment forwards or switch to a telephone clinic when appointments become available to fulfil waiting list or if clinicians and consultant become available or unavailable for pre-booked dates.

As a result of ongoing health issues I'm quite often having tests (including MRI) and this is something I've experienced quite a bit and it hasn't correlated with bad news for me personally (even if there has been some). There was an occasion where a finding was considered urgent and I was called within 24 hours of the scan and asked to attend A&E but that was the exception, and ultimately that seemed to me to be erring on the safe side.

Of course there are varying degrees of severity with these things and we don't know what the MRI was for. Even if there has been a finding OP then that's not to say it is of a serious or life threatening nature, it may be a case that something on the scan has been noted (presumably you attended the MRI because you were experiencing some issue awaiting diagnosis) and next steps are required (medication, further testing, a chat with the consultant to understand symptoms better etc).

Wishing you all the best for it, and hoping it is nothing too worrying.

Thanks, I just wanted to post incase anyone else comes across this thread I'm the same position I was.

My appointment was moved forward as they had an opening znd the results were back. It did show a problem with my back but it wasn't cancer which Is what I was worried about.

Thank you all for your replies and sharing your stories. Wishing you all the very best.
