Do you keep old toys?

In the midst of a post Christmas clear out and wondering.

My children are getting older, 2 still in primary and 1 in secondary. I've kept some "classic" toys such as duplo and brio as well as some much loved board books with the thought that I might pass these along to future grandchildren 20 years in the future.

But is this ridiculous? Should I be looking to rehome them in a local playgroup or put them on a selling/ gifting site for another family to enjoy now.

When we visit relatives some of them have old toys and my children always enjoyed playing with them so to my mind, it seems a shame to give everything away. Likewise my parents kept a few childhood books and they are enjoyed by my children today.

So tell me, what do you do and why?

If you’ve got the space I’d keep some of it. It’s so nostalgic watching my little ones play with things I played with as a child and read books I loved. It’s also so expensive to buy new stuff as a parent of young kids; having some stuff kept for them might take some pressure off.

I also have some knitted items that my grandma made for me as a baby which both my babies have now worn, and which I’m keeping for when/if they have babies.

I've kept some really loved toys, put them in plastic boxes and put in the loft. Most I don't keep though, I pass on through the free sites.

Nope I don't keep anything , sell it or give it away . I don't like having things in the house that have no purpose , easy to end up with a house full of unnecessary stuff .
