City break destination with teens

Dc's (14+15) have said they'd like to go on a city break holiday instead of a beach holiday that we usually do.

I'm looking for inspiration please.
Not Barcelona or Paris.

Needs to somewhere with a mix of culture, history and fun.

I initially thought Lisbon but not sure there's enough there to interest them?
Amsterdam seemed good but seems to be expensive flights and accommodation.

Any suggestions please?

Rome, Bologna?

Prague, and if have time Cesky Krumlov it's in the mountains and if they like activities you can kayak the river through the centre of the very picturesque town. The castle also has bears in the most (no water other than the bear's drink)

We adored Budapest. Loads to do, easy to get around.

Loved Madrid and DH says Berlin is fab too. Milan is good if yiu can catch a football game as the stadium is huge but other than that I don't know if there is enough to entertain 2 teenagers.

I really liked Budapest.
staying to close to home, although you might still need to fly, Edinburgh would tick all your boxes

Copenhagen (especially if they are sporty), it's great all rounder and has a beach too and a very cool vibe, Berlin for the cool vibe and history and Palma (Majorca) - Palma like Barcelona is great for a bit if beach and lots of city- I like it more than Barcelona-

Venice? my teenagers loved it so much

We've loved Rome, Seville, Malaga, Copenhagen and Reykjavik. The latter probably the favourite. Seville a close second.
Budapest in July this year.

DS is currently travelling in Europe & his faves so far have been Porto and Budapest.

Istanbul. Absolutely amazing.

We really enjoyed Berlin, and I'm also a big fan of Belgium - Brussels, Ghent and Bruges are all very interesting. Milan is my favourite Italian city, and it's a very easy train trip from there to Lake Como if you fancy a change of scene.
