Gino d’acampo

Mothership4two · 08/01/2023 12:33

People worship the memory of John Lennon but he could be nasty and was a shit to his first son. Undeniably talented man though

Underroad · 08/01/2023 12:34

Jim Carrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Holly Willoughby, Anthea Turner (although I think she does everyone’s head in actually).

controversial: Jodie Comer. She is an incredible actress and I can see that and I am impressed with that in practically everything she has ever been in, but I can’t stand her, even the sight of her. I don’t know why.

Dodecaheidyin · 08/01/2023 12:35

Why is David Attenborough a national treasure? He's a TV presenter, what have I missed?

There's something about Floella Benjamin that has always (since I was a child) made me feel uncomfortable. Perhaps it's because she reminds me of someone who is not a nice person. Or maybe it's her, who knows.

Pamela Stephenson, is she well liked? I've never trusted her. And never found her funny when she was in that news programme.

I'm glad it's not just me about Judi Dench, I thought I was going to have to re-watch the Louis Theroux programme as I'd missed how lovely she was. She leaves me cold.

Lewis Capaldi - vulgar.

Yes, I think this is fair.

This isn't a superficial dislike of someone because they happen to annoy you for some trivial reason. It's not about making assumptions about someone personally when you don't know them from Adam. It's a legitimate reason, based on unassailable evidence of their own behaviour.

What they've contributed to is bullying, harassment, and a campaign of publicly lambasting one person. And for what? A moderately-expressed view about a serious political issue which happens to be swimming against the tide of received (totalitarian) opinion.

Not cricket.

Lot of hate on here for Jimmy Carr. I didn't like him much until I saw him live and he totally changed my opinion of him. Very clever, can deliver a ridiculous amount of jokes in a show and deals with hecklers amazingly! I was impressed!

I think that's the same with a lot of comedians, their TV persona is different from their 'live' persona. The oldies will maybe remember a TV comedian, Bob Monkhouse, a very irritating man but my hard-to-please brother once saw him doing a caberet gig because of a mix up with dates and he said he was so very funny and original, totally altered his view.

Olive and Mabel.....pair of bitches!

Shufflebumnessie · 08/01/2023 12:47

Stephen Fry
Robbie Williams (had a teenage crush on him but after meeting him as an adult I now regret my choice!)
Jamie Oliver
Vanilla Ice
Richard Fairbrass (lead singer of Right Said Fred)
Davina McCall
Kiera Knightly
Emma Watson
Philip Schofield
Jack Munroe
Owen Wilson
Eddie Izzard
David Walliams
Eamonn Holmes & Ruth Langsford
Brian Conely
Jack Black

Apparently there are many that I can't stand, I had to stop typing as it was getting too long! Many of those I've listed I've met in real life through work and they have not come across well (although I could make a long list of those who were lovely too!).

Pinko1 · 08/01/2023 12:49

Emma Watson (can't say what I know about her as it will get deleted but Google her and her pixie cut and who she is with and the clues are there)
Gwyneth - always acts so superior (see above)
David Walliams : so much more to come out about this man
Konnie Huq : very pretentious

Thechoccieorange · 08/01/2023 12:49

Peter Kay

Right, as op didn’t say they couldn’t be fictional, here’s mine: DEL BOY!!

I absolutely love OFAH and think that David Jason is a National treasure (yes, I am aware of the rumours and will happily eat my words if they turn out to be true), but Del Boy as an actual person is quite awful.

He is Narcissistic, misogynistic, Manipulative and selfish. I understand it must have been difficult to have to raise his young brother, practically alone, from a young age and I can understand why he likely is resentful of it. But some of the things Del does to Rodney are so horrible they cannot be considered anything other than Emotional abuse!

The amount of real people who admire him and claim they want to be like him makes me cringe.

Olivia Colman

Pinko1 · 08/01/2023 13:01

Adding Ant and Dec, James Corden (I'm sure bullying claims will soon come up), Lisa Faulkner (won masterchef then marries the judge hmmmm)

Maya Jama : there's a reason why she's suddenly everywhere, dodgy contacts in high powder places

I dated someone who moves in celeb circles and he told me Liam was the nice one in those circles, Noel was a massive coke head and very much do you know who I am. Really put me off him!

@sweetdreamtennasee yeah 100% was a very unenlightened time in the early-mid aughts and all very polarised as you say. Quite racist too (white chaste good girl pop stars on the one hand and young highly sexualised black pop stars on the other - not sure if things have improved much so a bit depressing). I listened to a podcast, focussed on sociology and pop culture history, and they did a deep dive of Jessica Sampson’s autobiography. I didn’t think it would be that interesting but actually it was as it lifted the lid on what JS’s specific corner of the music industry was like back then. Sounded pretty grim!

Yeah i agree about todays pop music, it’s all pretty unlistenable to me. That’s how I know I’m Old haha🧓🏼I don’t mind Olivia Rodrigo though, she’s sweet. Although I’m sure like all of todays pop stars, her parents are people of importance and influence who bought her place. Was it more of a meritocracy in the naughties? If so then that’s an aspect I miss!

Ooh what was the podcast? Sounds interesting
