What does your toddler have for lunch?

My 16month old goes back to nursery Monday and I’m struggling to think of fresh ideas for lunch.

She’s become a bit picky recently and I also don’t want to send her in with anything that could be messy (so her favourite, beans on toast, will be off menu at lunch times).

Pasta dishes always go down well with her so I’ve got that in the bag. Sandwiches are hit or miss (mostly miss recently).

All ideas welcome. Thanks in advance x

Should also add she’s not that keen on meat or eggs so my idea of scrambled eggs or omelette is out the window!

My toddler is a pucky eater so usually its a pb and j or something like Spagetti, pizza etc.

Sandwiches are hit and miss here too but slightly better luck if I use bread thins or wraps. My daughter has hot lunch provided by nursery for this reason, I couldn't keep coming up with new ideas!

Is this a packed lunch? Will they heat food up?

Quesadillas
Pinwheel sandwiches (more interesting than regular)
Chicken drumstick if ok with bones otherwise skewers
Pizza or pesto scrolls
Pizza muffins
Tortellini or ravioli
Sausage rolls or pasties or hand pies
Cheese & crackers
Sushi rolls
Instant noodles
Fried rice

Today she had porridge mixed with mashed banana (‘banana porridge’) and a satsuma but I’m low on food at the moment!

If she has cereal/weetabix for breakfast then usually it’s a cheese sandwich with fruit and yoghurt, or eggs (dippy or omelette) with toast fingers and fruit.

If she has toast for breakfast then it’s usually something like pasta with pesto and sweetcorn/peas, weetabix or porridge with banana, cheesy mash with baked beans and an apple etc.

Wraps are a great idea! She does better with variety so that’ll make a nice change.

Packed lunch. I don’t think they heat up food but I don’t think I’ve actually asked!

Great suggestions thank you!

If she can take a food flask then food will stay warm, which definitely increases the options

Thank you @Cuppasoupmonster and @HeyMicky - fab suggestions!

@HeyMicky she actually doesn’t mind cold food! Even if we have left over Dahl from the night before she’ll eat it cold but it’ll be too messy for nursery as she’s currently at a “discovering gravity” (throwing everything off her plate then saying uh-oh) stage
