Anyone got a soft flapjack recipe

Dc like the flapjack bites you can buy from sainsbury, tesco etc. They are softer snd less chewy than the flapjack I like to make. They want to make flapjack but I'd like them to actually eat it - is it a case of cooking for less time or using a different recipe?

Yes, cooking them for a shorter time is probably all you need to do.

I use the Mary Berry fast flapjack recipe and underbake them (whip them out the minute they turn golden then pray they harden enough for eating sensibly).

Here you go -

I cut the sugar down to 120g as the original is too sweet.

There used to be a recipe posted on here every time someone asked this. Maybe someone remembers & can post it?

You need one of the recipes wity condensed milk… I will try to hunt it out.

following with interest, also want to make flapjacks for DC.

I did experiment with a carrot cake flavoured flapjack once where I added grated carrot, that kept it a bit softer but had to cook it for longer at a lower temperature so it didn’t stay wet.

I use a slight variation on Nigella Lawson's recipe and it comes out wonderfully chewy. The low/slow cook stops it going hard at the edges.

125g butter
2 tbsp syrup
280g oats
1 tin condensed milk
Dried fruit

Oven 130C. Bake 1 hour turning half way

Thanks all, looks like I have some experimenting to do!

Here's another one to try:

I like this - they are definitely chewy rather than hard.

Condensed milk flapjack is the only way to go. Whenever I make them for an event I am always asked for the recipe and they are devoured

These are the famous Mumsnet Soupdragon which are 100% recommended

Another vote for these, they are perfect. I've made them dozens of times since the original thread and they never fail.

I don't have condensed milk , but will see if the local shop does. It might. Otherwise that recipe will have to wait, the weather is grim here abd the dc are still in pjs not braving a trek to the supermarket!
