Good Morning Mumsnet! What are everyone's plans for the day?

I'm just sitting in my kitchen spot with my first cup of tea of the day. Not as peaceful as usual, the washer's already on with the first of three loads. I've not been on top form this week so the basket's overflowing 🙄

The girls are supposed to be off to a local shopping outlet, with their dad, to shop for my birthday next week. It's raining though so I can already feel the enthusiasm running away & town being suggested instead.

I was going to head that way with them for a couple of things from the make up shop, then off to town for work trousers for me and school tights for dd2. I'm not sure whether to push my luck though. I've woken up feeling better than I have all week & don't want to jinx it 🤷‍♀️

If I don't go out, I've some prep to do for our first night back at Rainbows and Guides next week, and could do with updating my accounts.

I think we'll have jacket spuds for tea, something else for dd2 (probably nuggets or similar).

This evening, I'll order a few birthday things for dd1, then have another early one. The girls will probably stay up later than me again but the extra sleep seems to be helping with whatever it is that's making me feel rough.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning, lucysmam! I think I have the start of the lurgy too! Gross. Was off uni yesterday due to not feeling brilliant and can see myself not making it in on Monday either at this rate.

I've already been out with DD to the hairdreser and Costa this morning. Came home to start working on the assignment I have due in next week, but I'm feeling really quite rough and absolutely shattered.

I might pop down to town later as I've run out of mascara and quite fancy grabbing a jumper or two from Sainbury's or similar too. Then I may just go back to bed for a nap!

We're having burgers for tea, but DH can easily cook them if I'm still feeling bad then. Might have a very early night and watch a film or read in bed after dinner.

Why do you have to 'rush around' to do the laundry, I am sure that he is capable? I notice so often on these threads that a lot of you do so much laundry on a Saturday. Where are your husbands/partners? Why aren't they doing it? I am genuinely curious, because I wouldn't be wasting an entire Saturday morning doing 3 loads of wash if my partner was also capable!

I agree on this laundry point. I'm single, and my DC are old enough to do their own. So I quite like a Saturday laundry session as it makes the house smell nice and is very little effort but makes me feel domesticated. Really could not be arsed doing it for a man though!

I read this in a Gooood Morning Vietnam! tone 😀

Currently trying to wake up (I have sleep issues) and the dog woke me up barking.

Later I am going to an end of season Christmas party/birthday. I was going to go up town later just hoping I'll find the energy.

No real plans today. Had a lazy morning after going back to work/school. I think next week will hit us all so quite happy to have a slower weekend. Was going to take the children to soft play but at the moment they are quite happily playing nice together with star wars Lego. If they start arguing/fighting/moaning for screens I will take them later. I am just going to potter about and do some housework.

CanIusethisnameplease · 07/01/2023 11:42

I have been so so lazy this morning

think I’m feeling out of it after a busy week being back at school/ work / 10 hours in the hospital with my daughter. Hubby had a day off midweek and did nothing except wash up all day , so I’m trying not to feel too guilty.

I want to transfer some appointments from text messages/ emails on to my calendar.
and find a new book to read

daughter is at work after her maths lesson and husband has gone to work- so at least someone is being productive haha

right I’m off to put some washing away

sensibleheartxo · 07/01/2023 11:49

DP and I have been at a cottage in the middle of nowhere for the last few days. We’ve packed up, been to Morrisons for breakfast and now we’re on our way home. We’ll swap the driving soon and hopefully DP will fall asleep and I can start my new audiobook ‘the man who died twice’.

I have enjoyed being away from it all but I’m looking forward to getting back to normality. This afternoon will be spent catching up with washing and housework, planning some heathy meals for the week (back to Slimmimg World on Thursday!) and organising shopping delivery for tomorrow. Burgers and chips for dinner tonight and we’ll watch another episode of riptide and do some online shopping for new jeans and socks.

devildeepbluesea · 07/01/2023 11:52

Dark and dingy dog walk done by 8, wet and windy circuits done by 10. Put a load out to dry, dyed my hair and done my nails.

Picking DD up from gym in an hour, the. We were meant to meet up with old friends by the weather isn’t promising. May look to do something nice later, maybe go for food - I’ve been off since the 23rd so it’s kind of a last blast of holiday time. Back to work and school on Mon.

knitfastdieyoung · 07/01/2023 11:52

As little as possible! Christmas was flat out and disappeared in a flash and I'm still knackered.

So far, Sudoku on the sofa, scrambled eggs. Little stint on exercise bike and maybe stick a film on.

DS has his swimming lesson later so may have to get out of pyjamas as some point...

Rebelmcstreettuff · 07/01/2023 11:54

Hope you feel better soon @lucysmam
Will be the first day out today after a miserable week for DH and I after covid.
Done the washing and ironing (highlight of my week was my new iron,it's bloody great!)
Going away on a work trip for 4 days next week so need to get my arse in gear to sort food etc
Need to go to M&S to collect my sale purchases so might treat us to something nice for dinner.
Will also be watching the rig tonight.

Detectorists · 07/01/2023 11:59

Packing our house up as we move on Monday! It's absolute chaos here, can't see the wood for the trees but I think we're about 80% there. DS is having a Minecraft marathon, DH has just gone on a tip run and I'm hiding upstairs packing clothes. It'll be beige freezer food and wine this evening!

brownbeauty80 · 07/01/2023 12:00

I did all my housework ystrdy on a rare Friday off.. woke up 9am.. made Indian tea for family and had a coffee for myself... caught up on weeks worth of Indian soap and painted my nails...
no idea about the rest of the day...

NeedWineNow · 07/01/2023 12:19

Afternoon all!

Me and DH have been up the road to get the paper and a couple of essentials and are now tucked up on sofa with said paper and magazine. Telly is on and DH planning to watch the footie as one of our local teams are playing. I'm going to get laptop out and pay our holiday balance as well a bit of virtual window shopping. Meeting friends for dinner later so am tucked in until we need to start getting ready.

Always4Brenner · 07/01/2023 12:22

Today is my hibernation day so it’s 007 themed today soundtrack on eggy toast breakfast then 007 films for the rest of the day I’ll keep the heating off but be cosy under my duvet. It’s the one day I don’t do anything as such. I love cosy slippers etc. in the summer be different but in winter Saturdays are mine.

Scalottia · 07/01/2023 12:34

Decafflatteplease · 07/01/2023 11:14

@Scalottia we have a severely disabled child so DH has enough to be getting on with!

Ok I can understand this, but I am certain that not every female poster here is in the same position, why is it the default that the woman is spending half a weekend organising the uniforms, laundry, food shopping, meal prepping etc. It really is a common theme in these threads. The weekend is for relaxing!

Ilovechoc12 · 07/01/2023 12:42

Froze myself stupid for 2 hrs whilst my daughter played football in the rain.

Supposed to be going to monster truck event in the o2 setting off at 3:30 if my boy is able to go 😬😬😬😬🤞🤞🤞🤞 (sen)

Mrstumbletap · 07/01/2023 12:54

Up at 9am made DS and me breakfast.

DS wanted us to play Mario together, so played for about 20 minutes, but I am so rubbish at computer games I give myself the rage! So have left him to crack on without me.

Have nothing planned today, the house is pretty tidy, did all my washing on Wednesday, DH does the rest of the house washing. Dog needs a walk at some point but she doesn't like the rain. So not much to do.

I should be able to relax without the guilt but I always feel guilty sitting and being unproductive.

Might attempt dauphinois potatoes later but struggling to figure out how thick to cut them, whether to boil them first,or boil them in cream? As every recipe says to it differently 😩

Kim82 · 07/01/2023 13:12

Afternoon all. We’ve had a busy morning so far. Dh has a rare Saturday off work so he has done some cleaning, I’ve just got back from my niece’s bowling birthday party which I took dd8 to, dd15 was up and out to a revision class at 9am this morning and isn’t home yet and dd18 has just got up after working til 2.30am last night.

I’m waiting for our food shopping to be delivered (it’s due within the next hour) and dh is off out to have his hair cut in a minute. Dd8 is out playing with her friend.

This afternoon dh is taking dd8 to his mum’s and she’s having a sleepover, no idea what we’re having for tea, whatever I can be bothered to make, then dh and I have a 40th birthday party to go to but I’m just going for an hour to show my face then will leave as I don’t feel well and means I can give dd18 a lift to work at 9pm.

Then I’ll get home and me and dd15 will watch a film whilst I await a phone call from a no doubt drunken dh asking for a lift home.

IHeartGeneHunt · 07/01/2023 13:18

I'm at work today so we were up at 5.30 to walk the (ungrateful because it was raining) dog. Just having my lunch break, which is mostly Peppa pig yogurts because 4 year old decided she no longer likes them and I had just bought double.
Later my brother is coming over and we're having fish and chips for tea.

WelliesandWine88 · 07/01/2023 13:19

Softplay 😬 I've ran out of milk, need coffee and a break from the kids so it seems the obvious choice!
Then movie and with oh when he gets home ❤️

MsMiaWallace · 07/01/2023 13:23

Hi everyone.
Attempted to take DS to a birthday party, other kids in tow, in a local town. Couldn't find the venue at all. Gave up after driving round in circles went to Smyths & treated kids to something due to serious mum guilt.
They seemed much happier with that!

Simonjt · 07/01/2023 14:59

I hope those who are unwell start to feel better soon.

This morning I cleaned the kitchen and tried to get as much clothes washing done as I could, we were lazy in the week so there was a lot of catching up.

I’m currently in the depths of hell (on a plastic garden chair in soft play) and having to wave like a maniac every 30 seconds, I am very very pleased I have noise cancelling headphones. My husbands at the Millwall game with our daughter, I’m not sure who they’re playing, with the amount of football, with the amount of football matches she is taken to we’re fairly sure her first words will be either fuck or wanker.

Have a fab Saturday everyone.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 comical. Just comical.

CanIusethisnameplease · 07/01/2023 16:07

Update, I put a load of washing away , washed up, hung a load out , wiped the cooker down then got back into bed with a brew .
I don’t think I’m winning any motivation awards lol

Us too! Pretty much identical except DS is having a marathon Roblox session and champagne instead of wine.

I went for a run in the rain this morning. Then I looked after my nieces for the afternoon while my sister went to the gym. Going to the cinema tonight with DP.
