If you are in London, do you have your heating on?

We don't. Just wearing jumpers or sweatshirts and feeling fine.

Rather scary; think we are going to fry in July!

Near London - I've been having it on for 30 minutes, first thing in the morning. But that's all.

FlounderingFruitcake · 07/01/2023 08:05

No and I’d turn it on if we were chilly but it’s 19.5 in the very coldest part of the house so it’s perfectly fine. I do indulge with the heated floors in the bathrooms though because cold tiles aren’t very nice.

Buffypaws · 07/01/2023 08:13

Yea in the home office as both in there all day yesterday.

but actually I managed without when DP wasn’t here on weds/thus!

It’s about 14 degrees in that room without heating.

Crunchymum · 07/01/2023 08:19

Have had it on for an hour morning / evening but youngest DC is disabled and doesn't regulate temperature well so needs it comfortably warm.

Lentilweaver · 07/01/2023 08:20

We are in a new build so tends to be quite warm. Plus am peri menopausal. But am sure I had my heating on all last year.

I do have the bathroom heating on.

Put it on for a bit yesterday when I got home from work to take the edge off, but no, barely on at all. Positively hot in bed every night.

WordtoYoMumma · 07/01/2023 08:23

Nope, heating is off. House thermostat says it is about 17 degrees.

Bonkers really but at least I'm saving on the energy bills I guess (which have just gone up again 😭)

We are frogs in a boiling pot, aren't we. Terrifying.

Bonjovispyjamas · 07/01/2023 08:24

Yes, for a few hours in the evening.

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2023 08:24

We do still have it in for an hour in morning and sometimes night but it is mild

I love cold weather but prefer not having the bills from all day heating so fine by me

Looking forward to flowers / blossom going to feel great

TeachesOfPeaches · 07/01/2023 08:28

No and have my windows open. It's lovely.

Allezallezallez2023 · 07/01/2023 08:30

Near London
big old cold house but no heating on and I’m fine. Had it on one hour last night for DC bath time

smileladiesplease · 07/01/2023 08:30

It's blowing a howling gale here in the midlands but warm. Certainly don't need the heating on

LadyQuill71 · 07/01/2023 08:47

In London and no heating on. I bought a small electric heated pad and I have a fleece blanket, works wonders. I go for walks and exercise so that I don’t need to put it on. I’m determined not to put it on, out of principle that somewhere someone is making money from everyone’s misery. However, if I have to give in I will, but it’s amazing how quickly you get used to not having it on. Don’t miss the stuffy headache and bunged nose when it is on. Mind over matter, but not stupid, if I need to put it on, I will.

Feelallright · 07/01/2023 08:51

No heating on here. I sometimes put it on once a week for a while to help dry washing. We work from home but it’s still fine with no heating. We have heated throws if we feel chilly.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 07/01/2023 08:52

It’s about 17 in our house so I’ve had it on a boost for an hour once in the day and once in the evening. But do need jumpers, thick socks etc so I wouldn’t say it’s exactly balmy.

EarlyYearsMe · 07/01/2023 08:55

I am in London and in a new build, no heating on here and I’m still managing to dry one load of washing a day.
I think we had it on briefly when it snowed but it’s not been on much at all. We moved here in August, our previous place, a rental, was a flat within an old Victorian house and it was so draughty, it’s really highlighted to me what a difference good insulation makes!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/01/2023 09:13

Once it starts to feel, chilly, yes, but that may not be until mid or late afternoon.

Bobshhh · 07/01/2023 09:15

Bigger house with bad insulation and currently no carpets or curtains, and no thermostat or boiler that can be set on a timer (house renovation) so yes we do as the temp is around 13 degrees without heating on. Trying to keep it to just a couple of hours a day though.

Simonjt · 07/01/2023 09:20

It did come on this morning (thermostat and timer) but it turned itself off within half an hour, we have single glazed windows and no wall insulation, so not exactly a naturally warm home in winter.

Gooseysgirl · 07/01/2023 12:01

We're in a 1930s semi d, have had the heating for about one hour per day this week just to take the edge off the cold at the beginning and end of the day.
