Sorry @UmbilicusProfundus, got round it today by holding my breath! Turns out I’ve got pleurisy now, so breathing, coughing and most other things make my chest hurt a lot. Thinking is about the only painless activity left…

Blimey @Sunbird24 you’re really going through it. I’ve had pleurisy so can empathise a little, it’s seriously unpleasant. Hope you’re on the mend soon.

@JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx thank you - you’re the first person I’ve found who’s had it! How long did it last? I’m in so much pain I’m really struggling - got antibiotics but no painkillers

@Sunbird24 Honestly? It was a good few weeks. But mine was complicated as I was going through cancer treatment at the time, including radiotherapy to lung, so hopefully yours has a more straightforward healing time. As I recall, painkillers would do very little for it.

I vividly remember the pain with every breath though, and you’re still bloody quicker than me on PW!

@UmbilicusProfundus sadly allergic - if I can manage to get presentable I may go to the pharmacy to see what they recommend

Oh dear, that’s annoying. Well you are probably limited to paracetamol, or some codeine if you have a reasonable pharmacist.

Lots of sympathy from me too @Sunbird24. It's quite horrid isn't it? For years I thought pleurisy had more or less disappeared in the UK since my childhood in the 70s, like polio and scabies and the like.

Then a colleague at work got it and we all thought she was swinging the lead, having run out of other reasons to be off work. Until a couple of years later when I had it myself!

Hope you get sorted with something for the pain. I'm allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen, and can't tolerate codeine so it was plain old paracetamol for me.
