Scotland pricing itself out?

Im looking to go to Scotland for a holiday, wanted to go to two different places. Not worried to much about where on the west coast somewhere. Looking for accommodation and thought id try hostels, easy to cook and happy to share a dorm - price wise Im shocked, some (not all) are £70 a night {Corran Bunkhouse}

Tbh its a lot of money for a shared room in a bunk house

Isn't the £70 in Corran for a 2 bed private room?

midgetastic · 06/01/2023 17:34

Coran is essentially booking a room - so 70 for 2 bed room or 35 each

Basic hostels struggle as too many people want more facilities

ivykaty44 · 06/01/2023 17:53

a hostel or bunk house, just want one bed - not wanting to pay for two beds, thats why hostels and bunk houses are ideal usually for travelling solo

Hostels are pricey in England now too imo, have been for years.

Honper

I agree, but I hadn't seen them as expensive as this until I started looking for the west coast of Scotland

It's because you are in a minority and most people won't share

im not sure what you mean? Many of the hostels dorms are fully booked in peak times.

£70 is very steep I agree.

If you're walking, have you considered doing a mix of camping and hostels? It is a chore with a tent pack imo but some people don't mind it. And you sleep where you please in Scotland.

Many of the hostels found they could make more money having fewer people and smaller rooms

It's market forces
