How to find out court dates

A relative is up in court for serious crime. I know where it is and I know it'll soon be finishing and I'd like to attend court. How do I find out what day and time I can attend?

Relative has possibly done something very very awful, however they are super young and had quite an unpleasant parenting experience and I just want to attend for some solidarity if that makes sense. I'm so sad at what they have turned into.

I think you can Google the court concerned and there will be a list of cases and their progress

I've tried that but it just says it'll tell me at 10am on the day what's on. How will I get there if I don't know in advance is the problem.

Im convinced there must be a way to see what's coming even if only 24 hours in advance!!

It a trial that has already started? Because you can call the courts if you know details - defendant etc.

You can telephone the court’s listing department and they will give you the date and time of the hearing. You’d be advised to confirm the day before because the lists can change at short notice but they will be able to give you the info you need in good time.

Ah right. Thanks @ifoundthebread. It has started and I do have the names

You could attempt to contact the court - they may be able to give some information as there's a principal of open justice. I'd call and explain your particular situation, the court staff may be able to help, but otherwise it's common for cases to only be published 24 hours in advance.

24 hours is fine it's just I can't find it anywhere but places which says it'll be updated at 10am in the morning!

Where are you looking? Courtserve usually has the following days lists from about 4pm.
I have to check court lists daily for part of my job and always have a look at the following day before I log off.

@Findyourneutralspace thank you! I have found it now. Much appreciated

@Findyourneutralspace can I ask, does it show up differently when it's the final day of the trial/sentencing? Articles say it was expected to last 8 weeks but headed to the 9th week now. I can't attend tomorrow but would be able to next week so just wondered.

It will just be listed as trial or sentencing. It won’t say whether it’s expected to be the last day or not.
Often the sentence will take place around a month after the end of the trial, because they will ask for a pre-sentence report to help the judge. However if the judge thinks they have enough information from the trial they might go straight ahead and pass sentence after the verdict.
Its worth giving the court a call and checking as they will have more information on the specific case you are looking at.

Have you also allowed at least a week extra for the 3 bank holidays we’ve had plus any other potential delays? It may take a week longer than was originally suggested.
