How does someone prove they are a young carer?

If a child wants to access a service or event for young carers, what evidence is usually asked for? e.g. just evidence that a family member is ill, or do they need evidence from a professional (GP? Someone else?) that they have specific and regular caring responsibilities?

ours is outsourced to barnardos who did an assessment.

Ours was done via school, there's a YC rep who goes in, no 'proof' required. I'd contact your local council and see what their sign up is.

For dd2 we had to supply a copy of dd1's diagnosis, dla entitlement and a letter from school, social worker or healthcare professional (dd1's mental health nurse wrote it) this was for a charity
