Any point seeing the pharmacist before seeing the GP do you think.

I have a rash on my palms but it doesn't seem GP worthy, actually from googling (I know I know) it looks exactly like a type of eczema and a suggestion is a pharmacist giving antihistamine ointment or steroid cream.

I do get eczema a lot and from pics online it does look identical.

Is it likely a pharmacist will give me something for it without seeing the GP? I just feel a bit silly seeing a doctor about it as it's not THAT bad (and the wait times for an appointment....!!) but it's quite itchy so would like to get it sorted if I can.

Should say palm sorry not palms. It's just on one.

Yes, definitely worth asking a pharmacist first.

If you’re in Wales you might get prescription strength steroid cream from a participating pharmacist through the Welsh government's minor ailments scheme - google it. There are dermatological conditions included in the scheme.

Yes 100% pharmacist.

Mindymomo · 05/01/2023 09:47

You can first try hydrocortisone cream from the chemist.

As all above - definitely worth trying the pharmacy. They can prescribe a fair number of things (I’m in Scotland, don’t know rules anywhere else), and give advice, much more than many people realise.
