Family rooms in hotels - does any chain have rooms that can accommodate three kids

I’ve been buggering about all evening looking for family rooms and can’t seem to find any. Do they exist for two adults and three children? Cba with cleaning and air b&b but it looks like the only option.

Hotels with adjoining/connecting rooms (door between the rooms) might be the answer?

Hilton, Premier Inn and Marriott definitely have them, but it depends on your budget and location obv.

MassiveSalad22 · 04/01/2023 18:27

Yeah, adjoining rooms. We just stayed in a hotel (not a chain) 2 kids in a double bed in one room and baby in cot and us in double bed in the other room. 2 bathrooms - and 2 minibars 😉😉

My sister in law used to just book two standard rooms and have an adult in each one. Easier than trying to get adjacent rooms

Haha @MassiveSalad22 ok I’ll ask about adjoining rooms. Just pushes the budget up so much for two rooms. Wondered if there is some secret chain of hotels that caters for bigger families.

I’m pretty sure Travel lodge put us (a family of 5 ) up once. My youngest would have been 3 at the time.

MsInsomniac · 04/01/2023 19:21

If you don’t all arrive / leave at same time, forego breakfast and one of the dcs is small enough to share the king sized bed with you, you’d get away with a premier inn family room, they wouldn’t notice how many kids you have - there’s a v large king size bed and 2 singles in them.

Mycatsgoldtooth · 05/01/2023 19:58

Ooo thank you @MsInsomniac

if youngest is under 2 you get a cot and get a family room for 5 at premier inn. I always do that and hope they don’t notice she’s bigger than 2!

3sthemagicnumber · 05/01/2023 20:35

When my kids were small, we had a few occasions where premier inns would let us have five in the room (little twins top and tailing). I used to phone and ask.

Nowadays we just have to stump up for two rooms, I'm afraid.

SpinningFloppa · 05/01/2023 20:45

I said my 5 year old was two and got a room that way 😏 they didn’t care

Binfire · 05/01/2023 20:50

Yes we carried on getting a Premier Inn family room with a travel cot until our youngest was about 4, he joined us in the king size bed. Now we have to get two rooms unfortunately!

mintich · 05/01/2023 20:55

Premier inn family rooms sleep 5

CrabbyCat · 05/01/2023 20:57

Depending on what sort of accommodation you are open to, the YHA does. You have to check by hostel as not all hostels have the right type of room, but there are quite a few that have private rooms with 5 beds of which one is a double (it's a bunk double with a single above it) and an ensuite. The private rooms have always been located well away from the dorms and almost always occupied by other families.

If you'd be open to a 6 bed private ensuite room with all beds as single bunk beds there are more hostels with those (if the ensuite isn't essential it's even easier to find a room). They also do one free kids meal per adult meal while you are staying there so even if you don't take your own food, breakfast is very reasonable.

eurochick · 05/01/2023 20:59

My friend has three kids and regular stays in Premier Inns. They definitely did it all in one room when the kids were younger.

WhiteFire · 05/01/2023 21:09

We end up with two roms, we have all stayed in one room but it really doesn't work now they are older (mainly due to sibling dynamics) but I never did find one that would officially take all 5 of us. If we are all away, we do two rooms, but mainly stop over when at my parents so the eldest stops there,

xyzandabc · 05/01/2023 21:14

Independent B&B type places usually come up trumps for us, found either just by googling town + accommodation, town +family room, or booking.com.

Major chains are rubbish, all set up for 2+2.
YHA also do family rooms for 5 or 6 or more.

Summergarden · 05/01/2023 22:54

A few Holiday Inns accommodate families of 5. I think Maidstone-Sevenoaks and Northampton do and possibly a few others.

Puppalicious · 06/01/2023 11:23

One of the Legoland hotels does, can’t remember which one. Only of use if going to Legoland…You can find a few in Ireland, but not sure that’s any use to you - I’m surprised they’re so rare in England. Fewer families of 5 maybe?

frippit · 06/01/2023 14:16

The village hotel allowed us to have 3 children in a family room. They could only fit 2 kids beds in, but housekeeping gave me extra duvets and I made a bed on the floor for the youngest who was 3. Was a bit cramped but we managed fine. We all had breakfast and use of the pool and it was a very good price.

Yes agree YHA are basic but usually clean and private rooms available for 5 or 6 and good value
